BWheeler, this is a close-up. My '89 center-punched a GM J-style Pontiac that had run the intersection. Cherokee has $6200 worth of damage, but nothing major, just body parts. The Pontiac was totalled and she went to the hosptal unfortunately. I was on the brakes so the impact was at about 35 mph, so 2465with seat belts on we walked away.

Just when I thought Jeep had gotten the '96 GC Limited right I buy the new '97 Limited. I actually bought it used in late 2000. The HPs were not as good as the P Metrics in the deep stuff. This dump was at the Jersey shore in Feb. '03....33 inches. Saab in the drift!2466

Ahhh, the 93 Grand Cherokee...the first year they made them. I dated a guy who owned one and I loved driving it! :)

Here's the '06 I just got rid of....before its time. FL drought ends on a real gully washer 7/6/07. Those are 235/65/17 getting wet. These are great rides, they have ML r&p, that's a Mercedes ML. Front wheels camber over for cornering, great handling for a 4200 lb. beast. I do miss my rear drive axle, but not the MPG. IMO they are too big and too heavy to off-road in the wet stuff. Okay on FL hardpack, but in whoopdies the 4x2 suspension is just so-so.2473

Ok, here's one of my two old Jeeps. Pictures in the PC of the J10 are harder to come by seeing how I sold that truck almsot 20 years ago, and it was long before the days of decent flatbed scanners.

My Grandfather worked on these for the Postal Service back in the day in Evansville, IN. I remember some story about how they were having some issue with the entire fleet and he figured out something to solve the issue. I'll have to dig up the article. Great Pic!

There is still a newspaper carrier in South Bend, IN using one of these to deliver his papers every morning. I see him at least 3 or 4 mornings on my way into work at 3 AM.

Yeh, I guess most have gone by the wayside, or have been replaced by the Grummans. Built with real sheet metal, I think they use to call it steel! LOL

My first Chrysler product, not quite a Jeep. Dodge Ramcharger '75, true track monster tires can't remember the size, two front axel/steeering rack shocks and white spoke wheels....remember those. 8-10 mpg, 35 gal. gas tank. $.50 gas. Gulf Hagas, Maine.

Actually we replaced the DJ's with two different vehicles. The first were the LLVs built by Grumman. I had one 4316381 was mine. I only had the Jeep for an auxiliary route which had no LLV assigned to it. I had two routes, one was a K-route that had the LLV assigned to it. The aux route required an EMA (Employee Maintained Vehicle.) The Jeep was a gift from my grandfather for the route.

Anycase, the LLV's originally had Renault engines in them, but mine was from the final production run and had a Chevy V6. I only drove a Renault engined model once which was a spare while mine was in for an oil change. And I hated the Renault. The Grumman LLV's were built from 1987 until 2000. From 2000 until they went to buying Ford Windstars, and Dodge Caravans but they were too small, and were only bought until the GM built, FFV came into service a few years ago, 2002. The FFV's are a little bigger, but have a window on the left behind the door reducing that horrible blind spot. I have been long out of the service by the time these went into service.

Anycase, my DJ5G had this little Audi engine in it, but it did run through a moving stream in the winter with it. Water about took it away, but it would not die. Sadly the life of the DJ5 was cut short. I had constant issues with the electrical, that is the headlights dying after dark. I sold the Jeep right after I graduated college and had no further use of my college job as a carrier.

This is my 1982 J-10

Body off frame restoration 4 years ago. Total rebuild. This is one of my daily drivers when I don't drive the Patriot or if I need to haul anything. I love my J series vehicles.

Looks a lot like my 84 J10, except in a different color.

My grandfather had a 78 J10 that came in the most obnoxious bright orange.

I freaking LOVE those! Would love to have one or even one of the Cherokee based Comanche pickups from the late 80s or early 90s for trips into the hills for hunting.

They are great trucks. The best ever truck made if you ask me. Jeep rated them at 5/8 and 7/8 ton rather than the traditional 1/2 and 3/4. I haul a tremendous amount of stuff in the J-10. It has been on landscape detail lately. I would love to post a bigger photo. I'll have to do some engineering on my end. My camera makes photos this size and a size 3kb larger than JP.com will allow.

Thanks for the kind words. As you probably know, when you work hard restoring a vehicle, positive feedback is even more important.

That J-10 is what I remember about Jeep. Same chassis the Cherokee Chiefs were on. Nice job on the restore.
I was on a Dodge kick at the time when I bought the Ram, I had just sold a Tradesman van, cops were always pulling it over.
The old CJ4 was as close as I got to buying one in the '70s. Prolly had something to do with almost rolling the CJ on the test-drive.

I got this one in 1986 it had 28,000 miles on it. It had a huge winch on the front and an after market hard roof. concealed in the rear quarters were the original convertible windows that the previous owners had not bothered to remove. Finding all the parts to restore the Jeepster was tough as it was long before E-bay and very few of these were made. The estimate is about 2500 of the deluxe Jeepster convertible.

here's a photo of the last Jeep that I owned (I think about 3 vehicles were in between this and the Patriot that I have today). It was an '88 YJ, I had built the rack on the hardtop. This Jeep saw a lot of Mud and water (I was in Northern Ontario at the time).

no idea, i found it on the internet so its natural to be skeptical.
