.....may become EXTREMELY CHEAP in the next few months should they drop the model for 2009.

Chrysler doesn't want to get stuck with accessories for a model that no longer exists and the dealers don't want them as well, so look for bargains for "Compass Only" Mopar Accessories.

if i happen to catch it when this happens, i'll post it on here so you guys (and girls) can hit up your local dealer for some great deals. :D

What source has said Compass is dropepdfor 2009? I've read it so many times that people assume it will be because they don't like it, but I haven't read it yet from and news source.

It really doesnt cost them too much to produce the compass along side the patriot and the caliber. If they are making any money at all, they will continue to produce it. The factory in Belivider was designed to make multiple vehicles at the same time. They can tune the line to match supply and demand. I think the compass is like their number one selling car outside the United States, if not, one of their top models.

it was posted here on another thread about changes in the Grand Cherokee for 2009. can't find the thread now.....sorry. BUT IT'S OUT THERE, SOMEWHERE!

i hope you're right, but i've heard nothing from Chrysler that it IS returning for 2009. only ones i KNOW are the Patriot, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee (last year in it's present form....it will use the HB/HG platform in 2010) and Liberty. NO Commander and from everything i've read, the Compass hasn't been mentioned one way or the other.

maybe that's Chryslers way of saying: we've not made up our minds on that one yet.....

The Wrangler Unlimited doesn't seem to sell too well around here.....most abundant Jeep sitting on the lots.
I did see a seriously tricked out Unlimted, lifted, had all kinds of sponsorship stickers, looked really nice. Stock they just look awkward.

honestly, unless sales pick up A LOT, i see them making the Compass for only another year or two at the most. my reasoning? take the Magnum and Pacifica. both were dropped after neither one really caught on, the Magnum after 4 years and the Pacifica after 5.

sorry, i don't give the Compass any more time than that........:(

The Pacifica had to sell about 80k/yr to stay profitable as it was on its own platform. The Magnum only needs to sell about 30k since it is on the LX platform of the 300 and Charger, but it wasn't not quite doing that. Also, the Challanger may have needed that plant production capaccity. Compass really only needs about the same 30k units per year, which is treading quite close currently. plant capacity is not an issue right now.
