Well there are Jeep dealerships in Charlotte. I bought my Patriot from Stateline off of I77 exit 88. They do a good job. So there's a suggestion

Geeze louise... attitudes this morning...

I have nothing to do all day and I need an oil change so I thought I'd get it done. Didn't realize I had to justify my questions on this forum. In the past I have used forums to get suggestions on stuff like service so I don't end up getting screwed somewhere. Forgive me for checking my "friendly" forum before going to get my Patriot that I love serviced at some random shop....

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've been told be a service writer at a dealership that they pad in a few hundred miles to the "change oil" indicator to give customers a chance to get it changed. If you're not too far from homebase, you may be able to wait until you get home. If you're on a every 3000 mile service, you can definitely wait until you get home.

Ok. Let me apologize, firstly for my previous post, and secondly for my lack of explaining myself. I should have explained better lol.

I don't "need" and oil change as in an emergency. I have nothing to do all day while my mom is in meetings, and it's been 5000+ miles since I bought my Patriot, so I thought, what the heck, I'll ask the forum for some suggestions on a place to get it changed while I am just sitting around...

So, again, I apologize for getting upset and not explaining myself, after reading it, it is confusing.

Sorry guys, and thanks again!!

Ah, ok...well since you have some internet access, I'd search for some local dealers, then use the dealer name to search for some oil change specials or coupons. You might find a great deal and get a factory approved change to boot.

I meant no offence , so please accept this " Old Redcoart's " apology!! Its just that we do get some strange questions on here ie: "I just bought a Patriot is it 4x4 or 4x2 ? the salesman did't know & its has no badges on it"

Just in passsing I recently joined an Aviation Forum & also member of an Ostomy forum ( being a Urostomate)
Well you never came across such a bunch of self centred, sanctimonious , choppsygob****es in all my life .....Rude , Ignorant, self opinionated, know it all mingers!!

We have a few ups & downs here & people have occasionally got on their high horse ---but I can state this is one of the most knowlegable , informed , kindest, friendliest forum I have ever been on . Even the Caliber & Avenger forums are not as good as jeeppat.com.

Almost makes me feel like swapping Avenger back to Jeep again....

don't go to firestone or jiffylube just personal experience.

firestone- contacted to take care of our gov's on base and they never do anything right we have to call our vm (vehicle maintence) to redo alot of their work.

jiffylube- oil change = they make you pay for oil change but they didn't change oil filter or oil... then manager claims he's not manager and so i'll never go there EVER again.

do it yourself autozone is having a oil change special 10$ for 5 quarts of peak oil and a stp or fram filter.

I agree with doing it yourself, if and when you can. I have many horror stories about places changing oil and causing more problems. I actually had an oil drain plug fall out on the road one time. And I've had several drain plugs stripped too.

The Jeep dealers seem to have decent prices for that, and they always have some special they're running, usually a certain price for several oil changes. The last one I bought like that was 4 oil changes for $39.99. I can't do it myself for that price. So as Todd suggested you can call and see what they have now.

I think the typical dealer will charge around $30 for an oil change. Some other oil change places charge $50 and up, and as stated before I don't trust them either.

I like getting a 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 synthetic at Wal-mart for for $23, plus a decent Wix filter for $6 or a OEM filter at the Jeep dealer (Can't remember how much). I Like synthetic oil though.... and it is pricey to do at a dealer. $29 for full synthetic by doing it myself, or $45-$60 doing it at a dealer. As dixie said, I trust myself doing it more than anyone else that I may never see again.

Yeah, thanks for the help guys, I am back home and will do it myself. I wasn't bored enough to spend the money.. haha!

And Tiptronic, no offense taken, it was my fault for just not elaborating on my situation... I shouldn't have reacted so hostile-like... and I agree, this forum is GREAT!! :) ... (My fiencee has a Honda and I've owned another in the past, and some of their forums (Civic/Prelude etc) are BAD... almost everyone on those are P.I.T.A.s...)

That's definitely the route I am going.

+1 on Mobil 1 Synthetic. The only oil that will ever be put in my Pat.. (along with very car I have ever owned or will own....) (I once ran my MINI Cooper S for quite a bit over the Manufacturer's recommended 15,000 miles and the Mobil 1 looked brand new...)

Yeah, same here. That's what I put in my Jeep at oil change numero uno, and that's all I ever plan to put in it
