I agree with you. I was just curious to see what the finance rate on Patriots were now compared to what I'm currently paying, 4.8%. It's almost doubled. It's 8.7% now I think!

That's insane!!!!

I had to do some bargaining and some sly moves with a Bank loan. The dealer matched my Bank's proposed interest rate of 7.89%

Holey moley that's steep. I am leasing a 2007 and the rate is 5.99% (6%). Time to buy as opposed to lease.

FWIW: If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought.

I read about this @ Allpar. It seems they are pushing people to buy rather than lease. It's a phase. Sales will drop, and they will come back down.

I buy more often than lease. When I buy, I have always taken the cash incentive and got a loan through my credit union @ much lower rates than any dealer. I'm @ 4.99% for my Compass. When I lease, I look more at payment and total dollars spent for the length of the lease. I compare to what monthly payment it would be if I had a loan. Interest rate is kind of meaningless, as is the residual and sales price.
