After looking at both the Patriot and Liberty, i made my decision yesterday on an '07 Liberty sport 6 speed manual. I was really concerned with some of the problems with the patriot, and i couldn't pass up the deal on this Liberty. Ended up getting 41% off the msrp. We just found the right jeep at the right time. All that being said, i couldn't be more happy to be in the jeep family, whether i'm in a Patriot or a Liberty.

Welcome to the Jeep family. We are really looking into the 08 Liberty, although we won't be buying anything in the near future. I like the idea of having a 6 cyl. available. The gas mileage isn't that much different, along with greater towing capacity (which I hardly ever use), and better off road capability (I would hope) gives the edge to the Liberty.
Now, if they would drop a MDS 6 cyl engine in the Patriot, that would be interesting.
BTW, It's a JEEP Thing; You WILL Understand.

Yeah, The 6 cyl. is really powerful. I already love driving it. We used to have a jeep in the family but it was my dads. '94 jeep cherokee. Those were the days. 256,000 miles.

You just barely had that XJ broken in.......the 4.0/with the AW4. It will run forever.
But all jeeps are good. Some are more capable but all are jeeps.
The 3.7L in the KJ is good also.

Gee, my 98 XJ is just shy of 273,000 miles. I would love to see 300,000 miles out of her, but . . . . The AC went out in her about 130,000 miles and, at the time, I said I didn't want to spend that kind of money on her with the "high" mileage. Little did I know:-))

Yes not known for sipping fuel, but the KJ is also a heavy jeep.

Seems a lot of people only look at MPG. However, at 273,000 miles with only 2 water pumps being replaced--along with normal wear and tear--I can buy a lot of gas with the $$ I've saved on maintenance costs.
MPG don't mean a thing to me if I can't get to work, which is a 46 mile one way trip for me at 3AM in the mornings.
