1st full tank run without the extra heavy right foot acceleration. This shows an increase of just over 1.5mpg with the new lighter wheels and tires.(the D5 sport edition wheels come in at a tad over 18 pounds apiece, the tires are a full pound lighter than stock goodyears @23 pounds each (41+ pounds each combination vs 50+ pounds for steelies with the Dunlop Graspic snow tires)
I have kept records since day one and my mileage after 45,000 miles came in at 29.8 mpg total. Several long distance 5-7000 mile cross country trips were included in that. This last tankful was all local driving with city stop & go and idle time included.(but far fewer jackrabbit starts than the first tankful with the lighter wheels had... The kid with a new toy syndrome because the Jeep really does feels more "lively" now )
At this rate I could hope the wheels just might pay for themselves within a decade ! In the meantime the 215 65 16 Continental eco plus are quieter and grip very well on wet roads plus I can supposedly look to get at least 20,000+ more miles on them than I did on the stock goodyears.
