Dear Patrioters :)

I wonder if the pack including the official satellite navigator is good or not.
I mean aftermarket and mobile navigators today are smart and cheap and I wonder if the official one is good enaugh to cost more than 1000€ more (with also boston acoustic)

Is it effordable and precise enaugh? what functions does it have? could the 30Gb hard disc suffer from off road bumps?

Please owners leave your comments !

thank you and sorry for poor english

I guess I shouldn't be posting because I don't have the Satellite nav, but from what ive heard is that it's not worth the extra $$$. You can though get the upgraded stereo without the nav. That is what I have. I love the 30gb hard drive. I never have to mess with cds or an ipod.

From my experience the hard drive doesn't get messed up from bumps or anything like that.

Your english is fine! I wish i knew another language.

Good luck getting your Patriot!!

In Europe you can't split the Stereo 30Gb hard disk to satellite Navigator: both or nothing for 1000€ more or less.

I don't have the Satellite nav but got the the 6 CD changer in the Limited. Perhaps would have preferred the Ipod connector from the Sports +

1000 $ seems a rip-off for Satellite nav

I have the sat nav and find it works well. The hard drive has never been affected by bumps on the road, although it is easy to fill it up. I have a 160gb classic ipod attached to increase capacity. All works very well. The sound from the boston acoutics is excellent too.

I have the satnav and a big plus for me is that it re-calculates if there is a traffic problem en-route which my TomTom didnt do. The downside as far as I understand (because I havn't done it yet) is that the map updates cost a fortune. Other than that the Mygig/Boston Acoustics system is excellent.

I was meaning off road bumps which can make the HD suffering

It recalculates the route when there is a traffic problem after asked you or also without your request?

thanks for all your comments

It works with the TMC - Traffic Message Channel - and it will re-calculate automatically if there is an accident or congestion etc. It will tell you that it re-calculating due to current traffic reports. I think this is common in a lot of in car systems - my son in law has a BMW which does the same. I travel all over the country in my job and it has saved me many hours of sitting in traffic jams.

Thank you very much for informations.
Do you pay annual subscrition or fee to get this service or is it included lifetime in the car price?

No there's no annual subscription - the only thing you have to pay for is map updates

I opted for the satnav package, and must say its well worth it, the speakers are excellent, dvd playback is cool etc etc. It is a lot of cash for what it is, but I don't regret it.

I have a question:

I'm not able to turn on the radio without the key in the car

I want to listen the radio using the movable rear speakers but I cant turn on the radio if the key is not plugged in

could you help me? thanks a lot!

PS: bought the premium pack in Italy with a 30GB hard disk but the system installed has only 13GB. 30 GB is not available anymore without any comunication
