I'm coming to the stage when I need to start choosing some new tyres for my 07 Pat.

I'd like to put some 215/65R17 tyres on (like the USA stock) as I think they may just look slightly better than the UK stock 215/60R17s that are on at the moment.

However, search as I might, I cannot find any mainstream brand tyres of 215/65R17 size. I can find some Nexen (which I know nothing about and which look a bit bland) and some Conti Winter only tyres, but no other brands.

My question is, do any of you UK Pat owners know where I can get the USA-size tyres in the UK please? Has anyone else with a UK Pat put this size of tyres on?

I can't understand why 215/65R17 tyres are not more available, are they not stock sizes for other cars - Nissan X-Trail, Subaru, etc.?

Don't think you will have any luck getting this size here, think you would have to go for 225/65r17, not sure if that creates clearance issues?

Thanks Borderspeed. I had considered going for the 225/65R17 size.

Just a bit worried that MPG will suffer a lot and whether the brakes are up to the increased wheel diameter & weight.

Also, I wonder if I have to inform my Insurance company that I'm using a non-standard tyre size? I suppose I would have the same issues with 215/65R17....

Oh well, looks like I'll have to stick with stock UK size. Now to find some more aggresive one in the right size.

The brakes are just fine with that tire size. Fuel consumption may go up slightly, but there will hardly be any significant change. It will depend a lot on the tire you get, too, rather than just its size.
