Well...
all the mud was dried up and it showed me how much i shouldn't of been there in the rain.... a friend went with me and took some great pics with his fancy camera I'll have some pretty nice pictures up hopefully tomorrow.

p.s. really digging the patriot but jeep should of made this thing with 3in more ground clearance and it would be perfect!!! my hitch has a huge bolt for the ball that just came that way and it turned to a ditch digger couple times lol.

RRO lift and bigger tires. Done. :) (They won't even have to be very much bigger - along with the lift, my 225/65/17's give me close to three inches more air under the Jeep, and these tires are still pretty close to factory size.)

A couple inches would be good, about 8 inches would be better, but no way to get that. The only real increase in clearance is from bigger tires, and a lift is just to allow that.

You see some vehicles with extreme body lifts, and that sometimes looks cool, but really doesn't add much in actual clearance. Everything I read says a lift is just to allow for bigger tires, which then gets you some additional clearance.

Ground clearance is only to the axle, or differential usually, although in some situations the body being a bit higher helps too. I know a few more inches would help to keep me from getting high centered as often.

Yep!!! sorry it's taking a bit longer to get the pictures their on my buddies camera haha. I read that the patriot was lowered to keep mpg higher... It already has a 4cyl! oh well it does good for having its 8ish im still looking into tires can't decide on lift with 225/70s or just some 215/70/s I would get the stu but due to my budget or if he is able to find a u.s. distributor Im going with RRO.

In a rig with solid axles, this is more or less true - while everything else goes up, the axles remain where they were. But with independent suspension, a lift lifts the whole undercarriage. So, there is at least that positive side about independent suspension. :)

Would be nice to not have to dig snow and ice out from under the Patriot in the winter when I get high centered. Maybe one day I'll buy a 4wd quad and a snowblower, and not have to worry about that.

I'm just going to throw in a bit of clarification here. You're correct to a point (1.5" to 2" lift max I would imagine). As you put in taller coils and struts then a puck you change the geometry of your suspension and place the components in a position that causes increased wear and maybe even stress. This leads to things wearing out earlier then stock or even breaking. If you go higher then say 1.5" you would be getting into drop down brackets which lowers your suspension and increases the rest of the vehicle height. So once again, you're back to fitting the smallest lift to clear the tire you are wanting to clear.

hmm, well there was mud, but it was most dried up, especially compared to my first adventure with knee deep ruts un-benounced to me haha. So... with all said above n' all dry-mud run fits unless you want, big rutted dirt and hills with slightly muddy spots run lol. I will have more pics every weekend pretty much just trying to venture further out.

Anyone find after marekt front tow hooks yet I won
t pay 300+ for a couple of swirly pieces of metal haha.

And 2" is the maximum amount of lift you can get out of a factory made lift kit made for the MK Jeeps. :) Well, if you want to get really technical, officially 2 1/8".

A FWD Patriot can do pretty good off-road. I posted my adventure in the 2wd forum.

No pictures -- I didn't dare stop for fear I'd never get going again.

well got some good and bad news....

good news: the dealer said after contacting jeep I could get a 2011 sport patriot 4x4 with freedom drive 2 for under 21k total

bad news: 3months to wait! because it's a single order on a low demand model for California....

so now im still looking...

Do it! 3 months is nothing when you already have a Patriot to drive in the meantime
