Here is the Colorado Trail Rating system, as listed on 4x4 Trails.net
Whether you have a stock Pat or a full blown off road machine, this helps in determining which trails are suitable for your rig. Remember this is only a guide; conditions can change without warning.

I've done some of these trails and have generally found the Patriot is capable of up to about a 3 of 10. Likewise for http://www.traildamage.com (http://www.traildamage.com/index.php). You will use your skids on a 3 for sure. A lifted FDII Patriot may be able to handle a 4, and a SEMA Patriot could handle a 5, but those don't yet exist!
When off roading in CO, you have to take damage with a grain of salt. We were on a flat section of trail and rolled over the side of a triangle rock that flipped up and put a nice scratch/dent in the passenger side door. Never would have saw that coming... Another time, we pulled off a trail to let an up-bound truck pass and put a nice dent/tear in the lower front bumper. If we didn't buy our Patriot, it wouldn't see more than a 2 rated trail!

Hubby and I were in his Wrangler last weekend up in the Hermosa area north of Purgatory and we surmised the Pat could have handled the trail (a couple of iffy ruts though). By that ratings list the trail we were on was at least a 3, maybe a 4. I'll need to do more research on the rating system but we figure if the trail is wide enough for passing or has turnouts, just about anything can do it except a mini-van!
