: Admins- Site Suggestion
mrJeepr44 04-01-2011, 08:39 AM I noticed the other day that when I log out of JeepPatriot.com, at the top of the page below the ads, reads this message:
JeepPatriot.com is the premier Jeep Patriot forum on the internet. Registered Users do not see the above ads. Please Register - It's Free!
I assume that statement is referring to the google ads, but that isn't what it says... and ads are showing up for registered users now (not as many, but even the google ads are still there).
I was really hoping that was already in place when I recently became a site supporter. Not only did the ads stay, but now when I access the site from my android phone, I get a notification that I am able to purchase an autoguide app for $3.50 (or whatever it costs) to access the site easier...
Again, it is a cool feature and I don't have to buy it, but it would be a nice little gimme for those who are already supporters. First time I saw that message on my phone was about 2 days after I became a site supporter. It felt like a bit of a slap in the face ("More money please!")
I know you guys are tired of hearing it, but can we at least make it so that site supporters do not see the ads? I know there are operating costs and autoguide has to get paid, and I get that. That's why I'm only asking if the paying site supporters can have this as a perk.
Thanks guys,
-mrJeepr44

todde702 04-01-2011, 11:22 AM I still see the google ads, but the large picture ad for the Ram truck (in your screen capture) is not there. Here's what I see.

Notice the google ads are now stretched across where the large truck picture ad used to be.
dixiedawg 04-01-2011, 11:37 AM Well, I'm sort of happy to have the ads, if it means this site remains viable and available to us all. I really don't notice them.
Although, if you paid and should not see them I hope it gets corrected soon. The admins here have always been top notch.
Weatherman 04-01-2011, 02:34 PM I noticed that if you don't log in that they put those big ads in between every couple posts on the page. When I am logged in, they are just at the top and bottom which is much better. Are you still seeing the ads between posts? If I'm not mistaken, being a site supporter reduces the number of ads, but doesn't make them go away.

I've never seen ads between posts. I was just noting the "if you register, ads don't appear here" sign. The number of ads don't seem reduced to me...
Don't get me wrong, it is a great forum, and I hope they can keep it open any way they can... it just stinks to be a site supporter and see all the ads. In the end though, it's not a big deal
todde702 04-01-2011, 04:54 PM Compared to some forums I've been on, this one is relatively ad free. Some forums I've used for researching stuff had an ad post between each members posts. On a 50 post thread, there were 49 additional post ads (plus the top banner ad, bottom banner ad and the stick with you side bar ads as you scrolled!) granted, I wasn't a member there or signed in, but still...that's way excessive!
mrJeepr44 05-06-2011, 08:26 AM Well, lately I have noticed the only ad I am seeing is an autoguide banner, and well... autoguide owns the site, so it makes sense. Thank you admins for hearing us. I couldn't be happier!
jlobaugh 05-06-2011, 08:35 AM I only see the AutoGuide banner as well, but I bought a copy of it for my Android phone so I wouldn't mind seeing a different ad there. Before I was a site supporter, I saw an etrailer.com banner ad and I bought my hitch and wiring harness there.
Actually, when you look at some thread as a registered (paying/supportive or not supportive) user, take a test and print the thread out as a picture.
Most of the space is covered with users signatures, not by the ads ;).
If there would be an option:
a) to limit the space of them in my personal view
b) turn them off in my personal view
c) turn pictures (and banners) in signatures off in my personal view
I would select option (c). No offence :notworthy::D

You can turn off signatures and other things to make the threads streamlined if that is what you want.
Go to UserCP
Select Edit Options from the left colum
Scroll down to the Thread Display Options
Can turn on/off:
1. Signatures
2. Avatars
3. Images
As far as the OP:
There is a reduction in ads.
If you are not a Site Supporter there will be an ad below the AutoGuide banner and ads after several posts in each thread.
Site Supporters only see the AutoGuide banner (they own the forum) at the top.

Oh I have noticed. Please note my thank you in post #7 :)
