I just had to have my whole transmission replaced due to a hole being drilled too large into the side of the CVT. The Patriot only had 131 miles on it. Guess the quality control did not work too well. I should have it back this week. Chrysler took the who thing to have it inspected. I am glad they are giving me a new one.

sounds scary for a new model from Jeep.

Yeah - that isn't cool at all... How could a brand new car have a leak like that?

JimmyJ, I hope they gave you a nice loaner. Sounds like it was found fast and should not impact anything else. That is good news.
Was that a mounting bolt, an assembly bolt, or an accessory bolt. Where was it on the CVT and in relation to the Patriot. This is important to help everyone here understand if it was an issue with working up the assembly lines or a general design / manufacturing problem with the CVT.
I hope you are back in the Patriot soon and this is an isolated event.

Yikes. Since this is the same CVT being used in the Compass and Dodge Caliber, I'd expect them to have all the production issues resolved. So hopefully this is an isolated event. Sorry about that, dude.

No kidding! Well let us know how things go when you get it back from the dealership.

it is a sensor mounted on the driver's side of the trans. If you remove the front plate you will see some eletrical wires sticking out. Jeep is taking the transmission back to see if it is an isolated issue. I got a sebring as a rental car. Not too bad I guess. The good part is the dealer is giving me the factory nav for 1400. Great deal since I could only find one in the states that came with it from the factory. I also do not have to wait a couple of months if I ordered. I should get the Jeep back on Wednesday. Hopefully everything will work out. The Patriot is actually for my wife. She has not had a new car in 9 years. Needless to say, this is an experience that she would have rather not encountered.

Sounds good! What do you think of the Sebring (2007?) I spent the last 3.5years of my life working on the insturment panel for the 07 sebring.

Looks good, my only gripe with the new Sebring interior is the seats. A little unsuportive, could use a lot more side bolster.

Just picked up a 4x4 sport myself. Needless to say, your post has me a bit nervous. Please keep us updated as to if this was an isolated problem in the opinions of the mechanics. Otherwise, I'll have to swing mine by the dealer just for piece of mind...
Also, how did you know something was wrong? I'm at 110 miles, and everything seems good so far.
