Just curious about what people are towing with the little jeep. I thought about getting a small boat but am worried it won't have the low gearing to pull the boat up the ramp.

I would hope you could pull a small boat up a Boat Ramp. If it were me and I could'nt get up the ramp, I'd put it in neutral and let the whole setup go in the Lake. Make sure your Insurance is up to date, also make sure you get out. Make sure you take out Stus Coils as you sure don't want to leave em on the floorboard, then let er go.

I towed a 4x8 Uhaul trailer(950lbs empty) with about 800 lbs of stuff in it from VA Beach to Ok with no troubles at all. Id say that's pretty good considering my max tow rating is 1000lbs.

The question is did you or can you pull the U-Haul trailer up a Boat Ramp. I know it is not a small boat but did you give it a try or could you ? Glad you could tow from Va to Ok with no problems, thats a plus.

I made it through the climb up the mountains in I-85 into Asheville NC, and the whole way through the mountains on I-40 which I would assume is a little more tasking than a boat ramp, so probably:)

I didn't buy it for towing. Anyway I Occasionally tow a box trailer that weighs 500lbs.

if I had to tow something which is a decent size. I would buy a car with a proper engine. Not a Milk carton size one.

I tow my 16ft SeaFox with 70hp Johnson just about every weekend. No problems doing 65-70mph. No problems going up wet ramps. An automatic would probably be easier but my 5 speed manual handles the job just fine. I have also hauled a flat trailer with 1200lb load to Arizona and back, from Florida. No Problems, 75mph all the way, up hills, down hills, it pulls trailers just fine...

I rented a 5x8 U-Haul trailer and added a full-sized mattress, box spring, wooden bed frame and rails, as well as 3 end tables/night stands. U-Haul says the trailer itself weighs ~950lbs. All of my furniture probably weighed anywhere from 150-200lbs combined, for a total towing weight of about 1200lbs.

Drove from NC to MA with an overnight stop in DE. Jeep did GREAT! I could hardly even tell I was pulling a trailer. Obviously I accelerated more slowly and allowed more room for braking. A couple times on the highway I had to kick it up a notch and it accelerated from 60mph up to 70mph with no problems. The DE stopover cut the trip into two 6.5 hr segments, about 500 miles each. MPG went from about 26 w/o the trailer to 17 with it, but other than that a flawless victory :-)
