I had the dubious pleasure of renting this vehicle at DFW on a recent trip to east TX. It only has 9700 miles on the clock.
I think my Patriot handles much better, even with the same load as did the Cherokee. Firmer ride, less sway, and more positive steering on the Patriot over the Cherokee. And the 4x2 Cherokee only got 18 mpg in the 97+F heat over a 250 mile trip.
It did have one nice function--the EVIC controls are on the front side of the steering wheel and has a few more options than the Patriot's. But I missed my steering wheel mounted radio controls.
The Cherokee is a little wider (noticed by the center console) and perhaps a little longer (more baggage space behind rear seats) but other than that, not a big change!
I still believe the Patriot is one of the "biggest bangs for the buck" out there!
