: 2.0L Availability?

Anyone know when a Patriot with the 2.0 is going to be available? While I would much prefer a 5-speed with FDI, this is going to be my wife's car and she has already laid down the law that our next vehicle will be an automatic. That basically means that if I want to get 30 MPG I am stuck with the 2.0L and no 4x4 :(

Since my wife drives about 20,000+ miles a year, getting 30 MPG versus 25 or 26 MPG is a relevant difference (her current Celica gets 36 MPG so each stop at the gas station is going to be a hit to the pocket book as it is).

I have talked with several of the dealers here in Texas and they are completely and totally clueless. I went to one Jeep dealer about two weeks ago and two of the three salespeople had never even heard of a Jeep Patriot and the one that did did not know anything more than what was shown on the TV commercial.

Any assistance appreciated. Thanks.

Julian

Probably by the end of March it'll be very easy to get the 2.0L engine. But with the 2.4L and CVT (FWD) my sister can get around 250 - 275 miles per tank of gas which works out to ~22MPG in the city... I can get an idea of her mileage on the highway

I have a 2010 Patriot 2.0 CVT FWD and you are not going to get 30 mpg with it. The official EPD rating is 23 city, 27 highway, 25 combined driving. When I have checked it I got 24.5 mpg with combined driving so the EPD numbers are right on the money.

I have a 2.0L and have gotten over 30 mpg on a long run on a few occasions. However, my weekly commute is 90% freeway, and including local weekend travel, I average 27.5mpg or so. Check my Fuelly link.

Do you have the CVT or manual?

I have a 4x2 CVT, and love it. It takes getting used to but it suits my purposes just fine.
