Does any know if you can put a reciever hitch on an 08'? I am a fisherman and want to buy a cargo platform that goes into a square reciever hitch that way I can put my poles and cooler in it.

you select your yr, make model and then you can choose between a 2in =4000lb towing capacity or a 1 1/4in =3500lb capacity there are 4 brands and couple different styles and they have both available for 08 all models.

Thanks guys. I bought the Patriot to get me down the surf away from the normal beach goers. The weather is warming up down here in Texas so now that I have the Jeep I have to fabricate my rod holders to a cargo platform so I don't have to have them stick out of the window or fold down the seats. Here is another question....I wonder if the Snowboard roof rack holders would work holding fishing poles??

possibly but a warning with salt water you'll find many other had the same issue

grease the wheel bearing on front esp it rust very very easily and try to wash all salt off asap.

you'll see it was quite bad (can be reduced if not eliminated by good petrol grease.) before you hit the salt.

Yes, someone else on here has done that recently, and others have added rod holders other ways too.

I would suggest a hitch, front and back. Front can be used as a recovery point, and to park trailers, etc.

most places sell/install rear 2" receivers
for the front, there would need to be some customization in fabricating the receiver, they dont sell standar hitch recievers that fit front end of pat,

for your use, fishing cooler/rod holder,
i would look into front end receiver
as with cooler/poles probably wont be able to open tailgate without moving stuff off
front end reciever is most common for such fishing coolers

I have a hitch cargo carrier that I attachd PVC pipe to for holding my rods. I put 3 tubes on it. When I get a chance I'll post a picture.
