: Date format
rocal 02-14-2011, 03:01 PM Is there a way to change the date format on your own screen from the Japanese/North American format ie. 02 -14-2011 (February 14, 2011) to European/Rest-of-the-World format: 14-02-2011 (14th February, 2011)?
It really gets me confused where single digits are involved such as
03-05-2011; I have to stop and think, are we talking about March or May here?

I always prefer that format. day, month year. I'll be watching to find out.
Year, month, day would makes sense too, but that whole month, day, year makes about as much sense as the metric system! :D
MiddleburgJeep 02-14-2011, 05:09 PM Ya when I go to an airport in Europe, I'm like "Excuse me! Can you please change the date to American!! time, and stop using military time!! I mean it's me, please change to satisfy me even-though I'm in a foreign country!! I't's all about me!!" Sorry man don't know how to change it.
tiptronic 02-14-2011, 05:15 PM Yea if you look at it Date-Month -Year is really the most logical!! There again some people drive on the wrong side of the road!!

Month-day-year makes the most sense. It's like how you would say it out loud. "Today is February 14th 2011"... you wouldn't say "Today is the year 2011 in February on the 14th day"...
You need to know its the 14th first surely - I can (nearly always) remember the month and year.
But we are very confused here - its metric unless its a mile and litres unless its a pint. But at least we have full size gallons!
dixiedawg 02-15-2011, 07:36 AM 24 hour time is fine with me, after 8 years in the Army it;s second nature, even being out all these years.
When I name folders on the comp by date, like my photo files, I use year/month/day. That way they are easy to navigate through when looking for photos from a particular year, time of year, etc.
UA_who 02-15-2011, 10:04 AM Why don't we just start stating the units?
We state them almost always for most everything else.
It's $3.25 per gallon.
It's 5 miles to the next gas station.
The next train will arrive in 10 minutes.
But no.... we don't say: "It's February month, 14th day, 2011 year"
rocal 02-15-2011, 12:01 PM A couple of you guys think that I want the whole website to change just for me (at least I think that's what Middleburg Jeep reckons), well, no, I don't. I just want to see if there's a way I can change it on my computer. I don't mind what the heck you have on your screen; you can have French Revolutionary months for all I care: "Brumaire the thirty-eight" (decimal year) if you like. I just want to change it on my screen.
A couple of you say, "But we don't say it like that, do we?" Ermm, yes, we do over here. It's perfectly normal to say "the ninth of February" here in Europe, just as you say "February the ninth".

So, I take it the answer's a resounding "No" then and you fellers over there are happy with the Japanese date system being used on this site.....
dixiedawg 02-15-2011, 12:14 PM Gee, to tell you the truth, I thought the OP was about something in the vehicle, my bad. I never notice the date on here, sorry.
MiddleburgJeep 02-15-2011, 01:48 PM The only option I now about to change any of the settings on your forum page, is at the top of the page the USER CP button click on it to change different settings in your page but I don't see any option to change the format only to change your time zone. This might be an administrator question? Lets see if they answer?
