To get more than 2 inches of lift has anyone thought of maybe fabricating new control arms, a spacer for the strut AND a spacer plate for the CV shaft? I bet that if engineered properly a setup like that could net upwards of 4" and still maintain moderate shaft angles. It would also have to increase the track width by a few inches, but that will just help with stability

Having more suspension travel might be nice, but you are still going to be limited in tire size somewhat b/c of the tiny wheel openings.

Yes, and no, push them lower, or bust out the sawzall. That steel bumper on the skunkwerks prototype looks like it frees up some wheel well room, perhaps a similar item for the rear could work as well.

I'm not familiar with a "spacer plate for the CV shaft". What is that going to do, and how will it help the CV shaft angles?

I think a 2-1/2 to 3 inch lift is about all I would want to do on the patriot.Any taller and you need wider tires for stability and the bigger tires you get the more it will hurt gas mileage. I plan on getting the rocky road lift and going with either 225/65-17 or 235/65-17 tires. I most likely will go with 225/65-17.

I'm not sure the exact name, i just called it a spacer plate, on some lifts, for trucks with ifs, they use new knuckles and to reduce the angle of cv shaft they bolt a plate between the hub and the shaft. And as for lift height I agree, I just enjoy seeing the aftermarket go crazy with all kinds of gear for jeeps.

And....the bigger the tires the more torque you need for off-road and acceleration, and the Pat doesn't have a lot of torque to go around.
