After just purchasing my new Patriot, I have looked high and low to find aftermarket filters or even something as simple as spark plugs for the Patriot in Australia.

The days of simply going to SuperCheap and getting everything you wanted to do something as simple as an oil-change, left me scratching my head and quite pissed off.

Which leads me here.... has ANYONE come across or found the correct oil filter, air filter or spark plugs to suit our Patriot in Australia.

And yes, before someone says it, I'm aware I can go to a Jeep $tealer**** and pay 10 times the price for "cough"...'genuine' Mopar items.

In the USA, you can get EVERYTHING and ANY filter for the Patriot, from a huge variety of shops and brands, right down to Fram filters sold at Walmart over there.

I was quoted from the local Jeep $tealer**** $24.20 for an oil filter....$24.20! Oh and to top it off, if i wanted a crush-washer for the sump plug, another $5!!!! DRUGS!

I ended up buying 10 Champ oil filters off Ebay to suit the patriot, which work out, after postage, $6.14 per filter.

Obviously having to import normal service items is not ideal, therefore, has anyone found aftermarket service items in Australia?

Thanks
i know what you're thinking, but watch out for filter quality.
you CAN ruin your engine.
go for known brands (i'm not saying buy mopar but don't buy the cheapest, you never know)

 NOPE!!! I purchased one of the RYCO Z89A today, and its VERY different. I dont know why they cross-checked against each other using the AC Delco / RYCO website, but they did as described above.

So back to the drawing board! They dont match at all.

I DID however manage to purchase the 'genuine' MOPAR filter from a Jeep $tealership for only $17, which will do me until my CHAMP filters arrive. HOPEFULLY they match!!!

Thanks.
stick to known brands and there will be no surprises!
take care!

Its a brand new car. Dont skimp on imatation filters, parts & componants.
Stick to the genuine items for the time being while the car is being run-in.

If your not happy with the parts costs (& Jeep's are infamous here for being expensive) you should have gone with a new Ford, Holden, Toyota or Nissan vehicle.

I've just recently done this cross-reference exercise and have found that the 2.4L petrol Patriot's Mopar OEM oil filter is interchangeable with Ryco's Z663. I did my oil change a couple weeks ago with this Ryco filter and so far it's been good, no issues with fit and capacity. I did the cross match using the Wix part number 57060 which has been mentioned in a few posts and Google searching and just found the Ryco equivalent.

No probs pursuit1980! Nice to know that I'm not the only one looking for aftermarket service parts for the Pat. Damn dealerships charge too much for small things, hence the need to be resourceful in finding alternatives.

I know Repco (also rip-off merchants) are running a 20% discount for RACV members in Vic for the month of Feb (unsure if they have that promo in your state). Might be able to save a couple of $ for the next service, fingers crossed!

Mopar are still over priced. i get every thing i need for my patriot "except" engine parts from Ebay. If your in sydney there is a great american car parts importer near black town with everything for dodge, jeep, mustang and ford. But he is still 30% more expensive then ebay.

How did you go with the ryco filter? I'm just about to do my service and wanted to find out if you had any issues with the z663?

Also what oil did you use? I'm looking at the penzoil 5w-30.
