Hmm... Hopefully I can snag one of those MyGig systems and get it installed in mine. I used it in a Dodge Avenger rental and thought it was pretty cool.

I think it would be safe to say that some of these options (ie lighted cup holders, and mygig) would be able to be installed into the '07 and '08 models. They will probably offer some canbus adapter for the my gig.

Still no heated mirrors, eh? :p

And no more Steel Metallic Blue? Hmm...maybe that will make the SMB's hold their value a little bit, having only been available for two years.

I'm curious to see what the Deep Water Blue looks like...

My Sport has this feature along with PW, PL, etc (just not cruise which is available on the Sport). It was part of the 25e convienence package.

This list does not seem to negate the possibility of FD II with manual transmission...

to those have used the mygig ,kenwood or pioneer nav systems. Which would you do, buy the car with Mygig or get the cheap radio and replace it with a kenwood or pioneer unit? I am leaning heavily towards a kenwood since it uses garmin maps. I really do dig the surf blue pearl, I think I will have a tough time deciding between it and deep water blue pearl

this is tomcranes SBP, its color does not look the same as the website. Could it be his camera settings didnt capture the true color, or they modified it on the website, I like the color on the website better. I seem to remember seeing SBP calibers being darker as opposed to tomcranes

No diesel for 2009 North American models. In the 2010 model year export models will get an all-new diesel but no idea yet if this will be offered here.

FWIW, I've known for several weeks now that Khaki and Steel Blue wouldn't be offered on '09 Patriots but didn't know what colors would be replacing them. Personally I was hoping for Jeep Commander colors Light Graystone Pearl Coat and Olive Green Metallic Clear Coat with Red Rock Crystal Pearl Coat and Modern Blue Pearl Coat also on my short list. Wrangler color Rescue Green Metallic Clear Coat would have worked, too.

Finally for those who were wondering, here's a snapshot of a 2008 Jeep Patriot in Surf Blue Pearl Coat: the image's color is accurate.

I am guessing the changes are for the Compass as well since they are practically the same vehicle. Anyway, I am now glad I didn't hold out for an 09'. A truly disapointing new features list. It will be interesting to see what (if any) changes are coming on the interior besides a couple of electronic gadgets and illuminated cupholders.

Wow... a bit disappointing, they need to do more then a cup holder and eliminate dark blue... which was one of the best sellers on the lot.... ::shakes head:: I'm glad I got my 08' STEEL BLUE!

Thanks for the information! The only thing I would have liked feature wise is the MP3 capable CD player on the base HU, as long I don't lose the aux input. I think most people are interested in the trim/materials differences. I do prefer the 2-tone of the 2007 models over the 2008 models. Hope they bring that back.

This description is for the Mercedes, but is similar to what Chrysler will offer:

For the first time, it is also possible to connect an iPod, USB stick or other external audio device to the COMAND system thanks to a newly developed, universal media interface. This UCI (Universal Consumer Interface) is more than just an electronic "socket", however; it also includes an ECU that links the external music memory to the vehicle's on-board electronics and control system. In this way, the iPod music tracks can also be indicated on the instrument cluster and on the COMAND display in the centre console. Plus they can be called up easily using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel. The audio device's battery is charged for as long as the portable music memory is connected to the car via the UCI.

Illuminated, but NOT heated/cooled cup holders... Hmmm, that make sense. I can see my drink, but it still gets warm/cold over time. Kind of Scion-ish, relating to the multi-color displays. If you're going to add a feature and charge more for the vehicle, make it a useful feature, eh? Anyone ever LOST their drink in the cup holder under your arm? Dumb.

But still no FDII offering on the Manual, even after all our bitching?!? Seems like no one from their R&D department is taking a look at the most popular forum for owners. Disappointing.

If you're going to add a feature and charge more for the vehicle, make it a useful feature, eh? Anyone ever LOST their drink in the cup holder under your arm? Dumb.

But still no FDII offering on the Manual, even after all our bitching?!? Seems like no one from their R&D department is taking a look at the most popular forum for owners. Disappointing.

Im still of firm belief that all cars should come with standard floormats!!! I know that its trivial but it really ticks me off. I mean, its a piece of carpet! just put it in there. Jeep is more than willing to sell me some for $100. I think it should be standard.

FDII = CVT2L. I dunno about getting autostick w/ the FDII for 2009. No reason not to, just programming the transmussion controller.

I wonder about the silent changes never mentioned on any official/press sheets.
Things they changed because of production problems/design errors like flapping hood, water leaks ect...

In a previous article they had mentioned that they were going to quiet down the engine... so I am guessing they will be addressing the rest of the 'major' problems.. Flapping Hood, and Leaks are something that is on-going, I would assume, when a problem is identified, they should immediately address them, and not wait till the next model year. Any new pats with flappin' hood? Mine is good, but its one of the earliest 08's there is.

Hopefully they figure out the rear dome leak. Mine flared up again over the weekend when we had a couple days of unseasonal rain.

Hmm... Hopefully I can snag one of those MyGig systems and get it installed in mine. I used it in a Dodge Avenger rental and thought it was pretty cool.

Shouldn't it be easier now though if they have the proper adapters to hook them up to stock '09 Patriots? I hope so, at least. And yeah, the passenger-side opening could have at least a cover, if not the same chill zone feature that Dodges have.

Please elaborate about what interior components will be Dark Slate Gray, Medium Brown/Taupe and Light (Pastel) Pebble Beige if you can.

Also, will the 2.0 liter engine still be offered in 2009?

Actually this doesnt look as bad as you think. Chevy didthis in their trailblazer and it looks pretty good. The top of the dash, seats and carpet are all tan, while the instrument panel, radio and some parts of teh door inserts are black... it sound wierd til you see it.. it looks nice.

Iīm pretty sure you are not the only one.

The problem there is that it says they have "new door trim and new console"... so the padded arm rests might not even fit the older patriot console and door insert. You have to order the entire console or something

It's always confusing how they list interior colors as they are not always clear between seat colors and trim colors, and I have not seen any photos yet.

Improvements may be minor but very worthwhile IMO. Besides, why buy a brand new vehicle that is a year old? Order banks should open on Monday June 9th. Price should be a hair lower on the Limited with a slight bump on the Sport models.

Olympia, is the capital city of the state of Washington. Hero, self explanatory, probably because it resists stains. McKinley is the name of a mountain in Alaska.

Didn't want to hear about the bump on the sport models...on well, probably worth it...I'm pretty excited about the mygig system and a few interior tweaks would be nice.

I'm going to assume you work for a dealer so I apologize if I'm wrong but what about rebates/incentives for these when they first come out? Will the $2000 instead of the $2.99 gas card be good for them even though they're an '09? Can you price protect that if ordered?

If the price delta is worth it, like $5000 rebate on prior year model and only $1500 on current model year. Or, it you dont like the changes from one model year to the next. Some people liek the 2-tone 2007 interior trims vs. 2008. Some people liek the amber rear turn signals of 2007 over 2008. There was ne vehicle that took away a samll cubby to save the OEM $0.60 per vehicle and returning leasees were upset.

It looks like most of the 2009 MK changes are great improvements. The cost cutting ones are rarely advertised, though, so buyers usually have to access afterwards.

In my market area (and I imagine nationwide in the USA), the Patriot Sport 4x4 base price was 'bumped up' $320 to $17,545 sometime in May 2008. Does this report mean we can expect another base price increase when 2009 Patriot Sport models become available in addition to the recent increase cited above?

Hi. I'm interested in both the YES Essentials cloth seats and the MyGig navigation system. Is there a way to get both in the 2009 Patriot?

As far as i can tell, the cloth seats are available in the Sport only, and navigation system in the Limited only (which has leather seats).

I think an pioneer avic or a kenwood nav system is better than mygig and can be had for less. but if you arent a do it yerselfer it may not be an option.

It would have costs VW much to make the current TDI euro5/6 emissions law compatible.
Commonrail is simplier to produce and you get similar perfomance and they are a bit more silence.
The current Commonrail engines are not better in performance or fuel consumption than the TDI. In fact the 2.0L VM CRD drinks about 25 percent more than the 2.0L TDI.
I donīt have informations about the Mercedes 2.2L Diesel Milous mentioned.
I guess it will have a few more HP and little more torque but i think that you canīt go wrong to buy a TDI.
VW build millions of them in the last years so you can be sure to get repair parts for a long time if needed. I also think that the Mercedes engine will increase the price of the Patriot somewhat.

I am still waiting to buy. All I am asking for is a diesel or flex fuel option for the North American Market. That's it.

Oh, and a six speed dual clutch automatic with crawl gear.

And rear lift glass.

And replace the fake silver plastic in the beige interior with fake woodgrain. Really, it clashes IMO.

And bring back the body colored side molding for all models (or at least let it be a dealer installed option).

When did you order yours? I ordered a 2009 sport in early July, and as of Friday last week it didn't have a VIN number yet. I'm moving from south Georgia to the coast of Lake Michigan and wanted the cheapest 4x4 I could get. For a no option 4x4 with a manual I had to order.

I have the Harley for the summer and the Patriot for the winter. Between the two I should get pretty good mileage.

Oh, and for those asking about price, the dealer said low 18's for the basic sport 4x4 with no options. I don't know specifics until my supplier discount and whatever rebates are available at delivery are applied. Dealer said if I don't like the price when it's all said and done, I don't have to take delivery. No deposit to order either.

I ordered in early June. Got it in Silver with the Tire and Wheel Group with Manual Transmission. I couldn't stand the CVT. Right, there was no deposit to order. Your VIN number should be available soon if not already. You may want to check back. I believe the 2009 models began manufacturing July 21. Heck, I might have the 1st ever built. Who knows?

The base price on both Sport models went up $305 compared to the year end MSRP of the 2008 Sport models. I guess that's not too bad.

Picking up my 2009 Jeep Patriot Sport tomorrow! Looks like there are a few sites with decent quality photographs of the new interiors. Might be worth checking out for people. Definitely not nearly as good as the real thing.

How big of difference does the insulated engine compartment make?
