not much new.
are they getting new interior's?

are they getting new interior's?
From what I have been told there will definitely be some sort of interior improvements, no details on that end yet...
Rends 05-17-2008, 03:38 PM Many thanks for the infos Milous! :smiley_thumbs_up:
And yes itīs sad that there are no details about the interior improvements yet.
Wheezy 05-17-2008, 04:16 PM Hmm... Hopefully I can snag one of those MyGig systems and get it installed in mine. I used it in a Dodge Avenger rental and thought it was pretty cool.
Rends 05-17-2008, 04:29 PM From Milous posting in the other thread:
2009 Jeep Patriot
* production starts July 21, 2008
* same engine/powertrain options as 2008 except for new PZEV version of the 2.4 engine (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle)
* new MyGIG multimedia radio
* new Illuminated cupholders
What else differences did you find?
I guess standart Radio supports mp3 files is new or?
Mak001 05-17-2008, 04:55 PM I think it would be safe to say that some of these options (ie lighted cup holders, and mygig) would be able to be installed into the '07 and '08 models. They will probably offer some canbus adapter for the my gig.
demolaysgirl 05-17-2008, 06:17 PM Still no heated mirrors, eh? :p
And no more Steel Metallic Blue? Hmm...maybe that will make the SMB's hold their value a little bit, having only been available for two years.
I'm curious to see what the Deep Water Blue looks like...
Rottenbob 05-17-2008, 06:45 PM ...DEEP WATER BLUE PEARL COAT - New Color for 2009
LIGHT SANDSTONE MET. CLEAR COAT - New Color for 2009
Ooh, I look forward to seeing these in person. Sorry to see the Light Khaki go, but I'm guessing the Light Sandstone is similar. The Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat sound promising.
...AM/FM CD MP3 RADIO (RES)
Could it be that they finally made the standard CD player capable of reading MP3 discs?
...NON LOCKING FUEL FILLER CAP (XJG)
This is a little ridiculous. With the price of gas as it is, the fuel door should be lockable, and keyed to match the ignition key. C'mon...
...TILT STEERING COLUMN (SUA)
I'd like to see a telescoping steering column.
...FRT PASS FORWARD FOLD FLAT SEAT (CDW)
I'd like to see this as an option on the Base Sport. It's a utility feature, after all, and that's what Jeep is all about. I can see why luxury/convenience features (i.e. power windows) would be available only on the limited, but a utility feature should probably be available on the whole line.

My Sport has this feature along with PW, PL, etc (just not cruise which is available on the Sport). It was part of the 25e convienence package.
This list does not seem to negate the possibility of FD II with manual transmission...
pdxbubba 05-18-2008, 12:33 AM I missed the part about them offering the 4-cyl diesel...
I can still dream
Sgtarky 05-18-2008, 01:38 AM to those have used the mygig ,kenwood or pioneer nav systems. Which would you do, buy the car with Mygig or get the cheap radio and replace it with a kenwood or pioneer unit? I am leaning heavily towards a kenwood since it uses garmin maps. I really do dig the surf blue pearl, I think I will have a tough time deciding between it and deep water blue pearl

Sgtarky 05-18-2008, 01:52 AM this is tomcranes SBP, its color does not look the same as the website. Could it be his camera settings didnt capture the true color, or they modified it on the website, I like the color on the website better. I seem to remember seeing SBP calibers being darker as opposed to tomcranes

No diesel for 2009 North American models. In the 2010 model year export models will get an all-new diesel but no idea yet if this will be offered here.
Irish Waif 05-18-2008, 02:43 AM LIGHT SANDSTONE MET. CLEAR COAT - New Color for 2009
.. is a 2008 Chrysler Sebring color.
DEEP WATER BLUE PEARL COAT - New Color for 2009
.. is a 2008 PT Cruiser color.
FWIW, I've known for several weeks now that Khaki and Steel Blue wouldn't be offered on '09 Patriots but didn't know what colors would be replacing them. Personally I was hoping for Jeep Commander colors Light Graystone Pearl Coat and Olive Green Metallic Clear Coat with Red Rock Crystal Pearl Coat and Modern Blue Pearl Coat also on my short list. Wrangler color Rescue Green Metallic Clear Coat would have worked, too.
Finally for those who were wondering, here's a snapshot of a 2008 Jeep Patriot in Surf Blue Pearl Coat: the image's color is accurate.

Sgtarky 05-18-2008, 04:27 AM i posted a picture of a journey in deepwater pearl. looks brighter in my picture, btw the you posted appears to be taken in twilight so it would be darker. I hated steel blue might as well called it charcoal
EuroPat 05-18-2008, 07:23 AM I love that picture, Irish Waif. Excellent color and lighting there.
What is Universal Consumer Interface (UCI)?

You're right. Thanks for the comment
GenXer 05-18-2008, 12:22 PM I am guessing the changes are for the Compass as well since they are practically the same vehicle. Anyway, I am now glad I didn't hold out for an 09'. A truly disapointing new features list. It will be interesting to see what (if any) changes are coming on the interior besides a couple of electronic gadgets and illuminated cupholders.
WhatARiot 05-18-2008, 09:05 PM Wow... a bit disappointing, they need to do more then a cup holder and eliminate dark blue... which was one of the best sellers on the lot.... ::shakes head:: I'm glad I got my 08' STEEL BLUE!
ricku 05-19-2008, 08:21 AM Thanks Milous !!
I know this is sort of anti-Jeep, but I sure wish they would offer chrome wheels for the Pat.
Thanks for the information! The only thing I would have liked feature wise is the MP3 capable CD player on the base HU, as long I don't lose the aux input. I think most people are interested in the trim/materials differences. I do prefer the 2-tone of the 2007 models over the 2008 models. Hope they bring that back.
Jeepin' 05-19-2008, 02:15 PM I love that picture, Irish Waif. Excellent color and lighting there.

x2 What is that addition to the MK's?
PS Googled it and this site was the only result!
Milous 05-19-2008, 06:25 PM x2 What is that addition to the MK's?

This description is for the Mercedes, but is similar to what Chrysler will offer:
For the first time, it is also possible to connect an iPod, USB stick or other external audio device to the COMAND system thanks to a newly developed, universal media interface. This UCI (Universal Consumer Interface) is more than just an electronic "socket", however; it also includes an ECU that links the external music memory to the vehicle's on-board electronics and control system. In this way, the iPod music tracks can also be indicated on the instrument cluster and on the COMAND display in the centre console. Plus they can be called up easily using the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel. The audio device's battery is charged for as long as the portable music memory is connected to the car via the UCI.
Jeepin' 05-19-2008, 08:01 PM Thanks!
I was hoping that is what it was! :Racing: Yippee.. :beerchug:
Who knew the MK's would be state of the art so quickly!? :pepper:
Dawson 05-20-2008, 04:08 PM Illuminated, but NOT heated/cooled cup holders... Hmmm, that make sense. I can see my drink, but it still gets warm/cold over time. Kind of Scion-ish, relating to the multi-color displays. If you're going to add a feature and charge more for the vehicle, make it a useful feature, eh? Anyone ever LOST their drink in the cup holder under your arm? Dumb.
But still no FDII offering on the Manual, even after all our bitching?!? Seems like no one from their R&D department is taking a look at the most popular forum for owners. Disappointing.
Still holdin' hope for the diesel.

Well maybe they used standard bulbs, instead of LED's, in the cup holder just like the 4x4 lever so after time they will heat your drink up? :smiley_thumbs_up:
Weatherman 05-20-2008, 06:04 PM Im still of firm belief that all cars should come with standard floormats!!! I know that its trivial but it really ticks me off. I mean, its a piece of carpet! just put it in there. Jeep is more than willing to sell me some for $100. I think it should be standard.

Good Point!
Ya know, the LED flashlight in the rear cargo light was genius; very handy when camping. We need more of those type innovations.
Ever wonder why Jeep doesn't have a CB option? They should team up with Cobra and offer a pre-wired option and built-in CB Radio. That's gotta be one of the most added pieces after market.
79bigmack 05-27-2008, 12:37 PM Can someone confirm this: If you get the Off Road Pkg (FDII) then you automatically get the CVT with low range - right?
Question: Will the 2009 FDII come with the autostick (like the FDI has now)? That would be nice.
Thanks.
FDII = CVT2L. I dunno about getting autostick w/ the FDII for 2009. No reason not to, just programming the transmussion controller.
WhatARiot 05-27-2008, 02:19 PM I was wondering about FDII because I know it wasn't to expensive to do the autostick conversion on the 07's I was wondering why nobody had done it on the 08' FDII That would make a lot of people happy.
DetroitFlyer 05-27-2008, 03:49 PM Good Point!

My 1985 Grand Wagoneer had a factory CB. It was very cool!
Rends 05-27-2008, 05:21 PM I wonder about the silent changes never mentioned on any official/press sheets.
Things they changed because of production problems/design errors like flapping hood, water leaks ect...
Someone knows something about this?
WhatARiot 05-27-2008, 07:05 PM In a previous article they had mentioned that they were going to quiet down the engine... so I am guessing they will be addressing the rest of the 'major' problems.. Flapping Hood, and Leaks are something that is on-going, I would assume, when a problem is identified, they should immediately address them, and not wait till the next model year. Any new pats with flappin' hood? Mine is good, but its one of the earliest 08's there is.
demolaysgirl 05-27-2008, 10:08 PM Hopefully they figure out the rear dome leak. Mine flared up again over the weekend when we had a couple days of unseasonal rain.
UN4GTBL 05-27-2008, 10:16 PM Hmm... Hopefully I can snag one of those MyGig systems and get it installed in mine. I used it in a Dodge Avenger rental and thought it was pretty cool.
it wont be an easy install, apparently it can be done, but ive only seen a picture of a mygig in a SRT8 GC, and the person traded it very soon after for a GC with a factory equipped mygig...i was told there were adapters but never found them
as for the lighted cupholders, they are great to have at night, and they look cool, if only the patriot had the chill zone instead of that hole in the dash on the passenger side...

Shouldn't it be easier now though if they have the proper adapters to hook them up to stock '09 Patriots? I hope so, at least. And yeah, the passenger-side opening could have at least a cover, if not the same chill zone feature that Dodges have.

rpiotr01 06-03-2008, 07:20 AM Glad to hear about the interior improvements, the soft touch features on the armrest should be nice.
Still the same size gas tank? I'd like to see another 2-3 gallons added, but I guess that would have to wait for a redesign...

NEW ILLUMINATED CUPHOLDERS
NEW MYGIG RADIOS
Many thanks for the 'Interior' updates, Milous.
Now a couple questions, especially about the interior changes:
You show DK. SLATE GRAY/LT. PEBBLE BEIGE FRONT VINYL TECH BUCKET SEATS and DK. SLATE GRAY/LT. PEBBLE BEIGE LEATHER TRIMMED BUCKET SEATS being paired up as interior colors in the 2009 models. Does this mean that 2008's Pastel Pebble Beige interior is history and that the instrument panel, plastic trim parts and carpet will also be Dark Slate Gray in the 2009 models with the 'new for 2009' Pebble Beige Interior essentially being a dark gray/black interior with Pebble Beige seat inserts?
Gosh I hope not because the 2008 two-tone Pebble Beige interior is an attractive alternative to the rather monolithic and. for my tastes, overwhelmingly dark Dark Slate Gray interior. Please elaborate about what interior components will be Dark Slate Gray, Medium Brown/Taupe and Light (Pastel) Pebble Beige if you can.
Also, will the 2.0 liter engine still be offered in 2009?

2008 Pastel Pebble Beige Vinyl Tech Bucket Seat
Walkeraviator 06-03-2008, 08:22 AM I dunno that I like the idea of a carpeted load floor. I enjoyed how easy it was to remove and clean the vinyl diamond plate floor.

2008 Pastel Pebble Beige Vinyl Tech Bucket Seat
Actually this doesnt look as bad as you think. Chevy didthis in their trailblazer and it looks pretty good. The top of the dash, seats and carpet are all tan, while the instrument panel, radio and some parts of teh door inserts are black... it sound wierd til you see it.. it looks nice.

I want part numbers and prices for the soft touch door armrest and center console!
Rends 06-03-2008, 10:29 AM I want part numbers and prices for the soft touch door armrest and center console!
Iīm pretty sure you are not the only one.
Walkeraviator 06-03-2008, 11:09 AM The problem there is that it says they have "new door trim and new console"... so the padded arm rests might not even fit the older patriot console and door insert. You have to order the entire console or something
taseal 06-03-2008, 02:03 PM looks like the only thing I'm missing are illumanted cupholders
damn it! :D
edit: damn and padded armrest and stuff... that I could have actually really liked :(
oh well lol
Any news on the big bump sticking out below the steering column?
Milous 06-03-2008, 03:40 PM ...Now a couple questions, especially about the interior changes...
It's always confusing how they list interior colors as they are not always clear between seat colors and trim colors, and I have not seen any photos yet.
But, I did find the actual seat colors:
Olympia/Caprice Vinyl Tech (Dark Slate Gray) - Patriot Sport
Olympia/Caprice Vinyl Tech (Light Pebble Beige) - Patriot Sport
Hero/Racine cloth with YES Essentials (Dark Slate Gray/Medium Slate Gray) - Patriot Sport E
Hero/Racine cloth with YES Essentials (Light Pebble Beige) - Patriot E
McKinley leather trim (Dark Slate Gray) - Patriot Limited
Rends 06-03-2008, 04:39 PM Milous,
what does Olympia, Hero and McKinley stand for?
At least McKinley sounds like a shoewares brand.
Maximal 06-03-2008, 07:15 PM Any ideas when these will be available for order? This makes me feel slightly better about not finding an '08 how I wanted even though the improvements are minor.

Improvements may be minor but very worthwhile IMO. Besides, why buy a brand new vehicle that is a year old? Order banks should open on Monday June 9th. Price should be a hair lower on the Limited with a slight bump on the Sport models.

Olympia, is the capital city of the state of Washington. Hero, self explanatory, probably because it resists stains. McKinley is the name of a mountain in Alaska.

Didn't want to hear about the bump on the sport models...on well, probably worth it...I'm pretty excited about the mygig system and a few interior tweaks would be nice.
I'm going to assume you work for a dealer so I apologize if I'm wrong but what about rebates/incentives for these when they first come out? Will the $2000 instead of the $2.99 gas card be good for them even though they're an '09? Can you price protect that if ordered?

Dealer told me that it will be November.
Besides, why buy a brand new vehicle that is a year old?
If the price delta is worth it, like $5000 rebate on prior year model and only $1500 on current model year. Or, it you dont like the changes from one model year to the next. Some people liek the 2-tone 2007 interior trims vs. 2008. Some people liek the amber rear turn signals of 2007 over 2008. There was ne vehicle that took away a samll cubby to save the OEM $0.60 per vehicle and returning leasees were upset.
It looks like most of the 2009 MK changes are great improvements. The cost cutting ones are rarely advertised, though, so buyers usually have to access afterwards.
BTW, thanks for all the great information!
bi555 06-04-2008, 10:00 AM Dealer told me that it will be November.
Thanks for your reply. :)
In November will be ready to order (4-6 months to deliver them so available in march-may 2009) or in November they will be available on European territory?
Ciao! :smiley_thumbs_up:
Rends 06-04-2008, 10:56 AM You will see it in stores in November but i dunno how long it will take if you order one and not get one from the lot.
Irish Waif 06-04-2008, 12:25 PM Order banks should open on Monday June 9th.
When does the factory (Belvidere Assembly) shut down for model changeover and when do 2009 models go into production? Relatedly, what's the last day one can order a 2008 Patriot (Friday, June 6th ?) and when does '08 production cease?
Price should be a hair lower on the Limited with a slight bump on the Sport models.
In my market area (and I imagine nationwide in the USA), the Patriot Sport 4x4 base price was 'bumped up' $320 to $17,545 sometime in May 2008. Does this report mean we can expect another base price increase when 2009 Patriot Sport models become available in addition to the recent increase cited above?
Thanks again Milous, et al ;).

scarberiajeepguy 06-09-2008, 11:39 PM Hi. I'm interested in both the YES Essentials cloth seats and the MyGig navigation system. Is there a way to get both in the 2009 Patriot?
As far as i can tell, the cloth seats are available in the Sport only, and navigation system in the Limited only (which has leather seats).
Sgtarky 06-10-2008, 06:30 AM I think an pioneer avic or a kenwood nav system is better than mygig and can be had for less. but if you arent a do it yerselfer it may not be an option.

There are some rumors about engine changes from AUDI-VW to italian VM with common rail... someone knows something?
Rends 06-16-2008, 07:25 AM There are some rumors about engine changes from AUDI-VW to italian VM with common rail... someone knows something?
No itīs not a rumor. Chrysler will change the engine anytime in the future.
Well i donīt see a switch in 2009 or 2010 but later but the current VW TDI Diesel is way better in mileage than the current VM Motori 2.0 which is used in the Opel Antara or Chevrolet Captiva and drinks about 10+ L per 100km.

So it would be better to mantain the actual VW TDI in your opinion?
And what do you think about injection? VW AUDI as pump injector othrwise VM has commonrail injection which should be better in performances and consumpion... at least in theory...
Anyway here in Italy Chrysler says that there is no plain to switch to the VM for Patriot.
Milous 06-16-2008, 02:38 PM There are some rumors about engine changes...
For the export market, the Patriot will get an all-new 2.2L diesel next year (2010 model year). The engine will be the new Mercedes OM651.

Milous 06-16-2008, 02:52 PM PRICE increase on 2008 Patriots, effective with all vehicles shipped starting today:

There was only one reason why VW switched to Commonrail: costs!
It would have costs VW much to make the current TDI euro5/6 emissions law compatible.
Commonrail is simplier to produce and you get similar perfomance and they are a bit more silence.
The current Commonrail engines are not better in performance or fuel consumption than the TDI. In fact the 2.0L VM CRD drinks about 25 percent more than the 2.0L TDI.
I donīt have informations about the Mercedes 2.2L Diesel Milous mentioned.
I guess it will have a few more HP and little more torque but i think that you canīt go wrong to buy a TDI.
VW build millions of them in the last years so you can be sure to get repair parts for a long time if needed. I also think that the Mercedes engine will increase the price of the Patriot somewhat.
EDIT: I googled a bit about the new Mercedes engine and so far i know itīs not out yet but and this might be more importand for you US guys the new CRD could be tweaked to pass the US emmision laws. So maybe there will be a Patriot CRD in 2010+ in the US ?!

so MY2009 will still have a VW-AUDI TDI 2.0 engine...?

Yes!
OhioKyle 06-17-2008, 01:03 PM I am still waiting to buy. All I am asking for is a diesel or flex fuel option for the North American Market. That's it.
Oh, and a six speed dual clutch automatic with crawl gear.
And rear lift glass.
And replace the fake silver plastic in the beige interior with fake woodgrain. Really, it clashes IMO.
And bring back the body colored side molding for all models (or at least let it be a dealer installed option).

Be sure and post pictures when it arrives, especially of the interior. What other options did you order? What color did you order and what colors were available for '09?
Ruttiger 07-31-2008, 10:43 PM I ordered a 2009 Sport and it has already been built and shipped. On the truck estimated to arrive late next week.
When did you order yours? I ordered a 2009 sport in early July, and as of Friday last week it didn't have a VIN number yet. I'm moving from south Georgia to the coast of Lake Michigan and wanted the cheapest 4x4 I could get. For a no option 4x4 with a manual I had to order.
I have the Harley for the summer and the Patriot for the winter. Between the two I should get pretty good mileage.
Oh, and for those asking about price, the dealer said low 18's for the basic sport 4x4 with no options. I don't know specifics until my supplier discount and whatever rebates are available at delivery are applied. Dealer said if I don't like the price when it's all said and done, I don't have to take delivery. No deposit to order either.
rtwingard 08-01-2008, 08:07 AM I ordered in early June. Got it in Silver with the Tire and Wheel Group with Manual Transmission. I couldn't stand the CVT. Right, there was no deposit to order. Your VIN number should be available soon if not already. You may want to check back. I believe the 2009 models began manufacturing July 21. Heck, I might have the 1st ever built. Who knows?
shoppingcartrider 08-03-2008, 10:31 AM Did anyone receive their 2009 yet? Do you have 2009 pricing yet?

Randoo-N-CJ 08-09-2008, 09:58 PM I just KNOW I am gonna catch a raft full of s**t for this, but I actually like it if a person (no, not ME) would put some kind of wheel that resembles the old Cragar S/S's. I'll see if I can't Photoshop something to that effect and post it later..

I take back what I said about it up above there.

hunter44102 08-18-2008, 09:36 AM - INSULATION, ENGINE COMPARTMENT
I'd like to know the details of what/where the compartment insulation is on the 2009's and see if I we can add the same stuff to our 2007/2008 models. I guess we need a 2009 parts list and some pictures of the insulation.
I am looking to quiet things down just a little.
Deech 12-12-2008, 10:39 PM How big of difference does the insulated engine compartment make?
