Looks like the concept is going into production. Article here. (http://blogs.fourwheeler.com/6249747/whats-new/new-midsize-trucks-coming-from-ford/index.html)

Awesome news IMO.

I expect some major toning down on the styling ans shape, but definitely good news.

me too. The article states its a Dual Solid axle (front and rear) however the images clearly show a IFS so it would be more like the KK Liberty than the JK Wranglers... However if everything in that article comes true that would about the time I would be getting a new Jeep/Truck. Hmm...

Is it just me or does the Bronco look like a mutant offspring of an H3 and a Wrangler? Personally, I think the Hummer HX concept looks better.

I too expect many changes before that beast hits the streets... In two years, there are going to be more people rethinking their need for large SUV rides that there are now... Resale values for existing, and future, large SUVs will most likely keep most of these vehicles out of the middle and lower income driveways. Granted, technology will also play a part in making these new breed of SUV squeeze even more miles out of every gallon, but that too will be a feature that gets charged even more for, in the near future.

Sorta funny.... 20 years ago, the bigger the vehicle, the bigger the price.... Now, or very soon, those little "slippers of a car" will cost more than the bigger luxury quad-cab pickups!

This would be awesome! It has been a long time coming; that concept was introduced in 2004. I saw the concept in person at the Seattle Auto Show two years ago and it was one beautiful vehicle. Unfortunately, it is about the size of the current Wrangler, so it'll probably be a gas guzzler. I'd like to see something about the size of the Samurai with a fuel-efficient engine. Especially with the way gas prices are going...

Also, I sure hope the 2-door body style makes it into production. A lot of these 2-door concept vehicles end up with 4 doors by the time they make it into production.

I am a former Bronco driver and remember when this concept came out pre-H2 so its not a copy of anything but a 66-77 Bronco. If they follow through with the concept it will have a turbo diesel in it.

Like you, I too have owned the once beautiful Ford Bronco 4X4. Actually had two, a 1980 and a 1990. Both were full size XLT models. Awesome vehicles back then.

I had a 1991 Silver Anniversary Model.

I agree, however I think it looks like maybe a cross between a H3 and a Patriot !

I saw the old style of the bronco when I saw it, wasn't sure what the years were though. I like the old style from those years.

That is nothing like the old Broncos from the 90's. Can anyone remember this famous White 1994 Bronco?

I had a Fullsize Bronco. 1990 tu-tone custom (dark blue/white), 3" lift, white steel rims, 33" BFG Muds, SmittyBilt bush bumpers, black slanted soft-top, big Ford logo on the tailgate... it was almost a show truck, until I started taking it out 4wheeling :P But man, I missed that thing!

The new concept Bronco - now that's a dream truck. I wonder what the fuel consumption is. I've become a lot more "environmentally-friendly" since those FS Bronco days... so I wouldn't touch one again til all these gas guzzlers go all GREEN!

I liked the concept, but really couldn't gauge how big or small it is. I figure if the Hx comes to fruition, and so does the Hornet, they may have a market for the thing.. MAYBE. I'm not holding my breath, but I did like the styling.

Concept 40 years later. Tone it down for production, and it is not too far off.

I wish someone would build the mini trucks like the old ford courier and the datsun's. Those suckers got unbelievable gas milage!

This is the first picture of the concept that I've seen. Guess I live a sheltered life. Anyway, to me it looks more like an International Scout. Some of those came with a diesel, I believe. Maybe Ford could dig up one of those as a model.

I'll bet the reason he was driving so slow was to get better gas mileage. I bought a white 1995 OJ Bronco new. Came with the 302 and started out at 15 MPG. Took a trip to Las Vegas and back and averaged 13 MPG. Shortly after, I traded it for my first new Jeep, a 1996 Cherokee Country with the 4.0 and automatic. That was good for 22 MPG hwy.

Definitely more IH, which was a better rig than the Bronco IMO. The 2s were flippers, but had plenty of giddy-up with the V6. Does seem to have an H3 line or two as well. With the right powerplant it could be a winner, Ford is selling 15k Xscapes a month for a reason.

Is this going to happen or not? Or did they really stretch the idea into that funny looking Flex?

For whatever irrational reason, this is the one car that will make me consider buying a For sale sign.

Not sure why Ford felt the reason to tease like this and then not deliver or take so long to get to market in the classic American style.

I would think with what's going on at Ford right now, that it would likely get the axe.
