They handled very well in the Snow this last winter... I would still be using them if they were bigger :D

The only surface the SR-A's are good on is snow. Dry, wet, they stuck comapred to most tires on the market (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=HAS&width=215%2F&ratio=65&diameter=17&tireSearch=true). Since most people don't drive near the limits of any tire on dry or wet, they don't care.

BTW, it isn't even an AT tire. It's an all season highway tire.

I have not had any problems with this tire so far. Good in snow, wet, dry. Would like an AT type tire but I can live with them until I can afford a lift kit and taller tires.

Well, since the SR-A is a close "cousin" to my RT/S tires on my XJ, I thought I would chime in on the discussion.

I haven't driven on the SR-A tires. However, the RT/S tire, for me, is a perfect tire for THE TYPE OF DRIVING I DO. I am getting ready to buy a new set of tires because my current set will have 67,000 miles on them by this Friday. When my economic stimulas check arrives, it will go towards purchasing another set of Wrangler RT/S tires. With 269,000 miles on my XJ, this will be my 4th set of tires. Someone out there can do the math.

The RT/S has handled some of the severest lake effect snow that hits from La Porte to South Bend, IN. My wife's WJ has RT/S tires and it handled our trip to Colorado without any problems this past April.

If I was an off road warrior, I might go with the Silent Armor Wranglers. For my daily driver and mild off roading, I would think the SR-A, like the RT/S, would be adequate.

If a tire fills your need, don't let all these reviews from places like http://www.tirerack.com make you purchase something else that you might regret. If I went by most of the reviews on the RT/S, I wouldn't buy them. EVERY tire has its pro and cons.

I'm pretty happy with them, on and off road, dry, wet and snow. They're just as good as my Michelin M/S were.

I just think they're too low a profile - not enough air volume for suspension, but that's the Patriot's limitation, not the tires.

I'm not a fan of Good Year tires. Every vehicle that anyone in my family ever owned that had Good Years on them were terrible in the dry/rain/snow. I just replaced the RT/S's on my wife's GMC Sonoma with Firestone Destination LE's and it's a major improvement in handling (dry, wet, turning response, etc). My brother had RT/S's on his F150 4x4 and replaced with BFG AT's. When I was doing my deal for the Patriot, I tried to get the dealer to replace the "Good for a Year"s with "Anything" but they wouldn't do it.
I always use Tirerack for the reviews, and you'll find most people agree that the RT/S's and SR-A's are not very good tires. I'll probably ditch mine next year...for now they're working...

I always use Tirerack for the reviews, and you'll find most people agree that the RT/S's and SR-A's are not very good tires.

Tire reviews are a reflection of people's buying habits. More people will write and complain if something doesn't go they way they think it should--or if they have a problem with a product. Less often, will one write to compliment a company on their properly performing product.

While "most" on the Tire Rack site complain, it is by no means the majority of RT/S or SR-A owners who are disgrunted with the tires.

I would say that the people who have a problem with Goodyear Tires--or any brand--haven't found the tire to fit their driving styles. Both my wife and I disliked the Goodyear ST tires that came as OE on her WJ. However, I am not going to sit here and say it is a terrible tire. It just didn't fit our driving styles. When it was time for a change, we installed the RT/S on her Jeep.

When I am able to drive thru a raging blizzard 46 miles one way to work--and then be able to get back home, it says something about the tire--and the driver's ability.

and it says even more about the drivers ability when the tires don't meet his "driving style". I'm pretty easy going in my driving style...I generally just cruise along with traffic and want the car to stay on the road...or move forward and stop in the snow. The RT/S's failed to meet that style.

AH, finally someone i can agree with! the SR/A's are TRASH! just go look at The Tire Rack's website and check out the stats.

while we didn't have alot of snow here this past winter, they managed to get me through what we DID have, but on just wet pavement, they're about as useless as the Wranglers that came on my '06 Unlimited. turning a corner after a complete stop, the front end just pushes....no grip!

since BFG doesn't seem interested in making an "All Terrain" for my 17"ers (i've emailed them many times about this), then i'm going to buy the Firestone Destination A/T's. much better tire, much better rating and really, not a bad price either. also the Yokohama Geolanders are great too, but more $$. too bad Jeep keeps choosing 'low-end' tires for many of their products that cause them to perform poorly instead of something that will enhance their vehicles attributes.

to quote that famous American, "patman16"......"THEY SUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!"

I had the SR-A's on a 2005 Dakota for 24k miles. SR-A's are a very popular OEM tire.

Most tires are good enough for most people. They never turn or brake with more than 0.3g's. For the rest of us that acitave ABS TC, and ESC at least once a week, there are better tires out there o nthe market.

Tirerack has lots of glowing reviews for certain tires, not just bad ones. Check out the Firestone Destiantion AT. Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo. Michelin LTX M/S.

So far so good but I have no faith in them after previous history, I will get a flat on the Hurley Pass this summer and that will be the last of them. Yoko Geolanders or Pirelli Scorpions unless BFG make the AT fit will be the next rollers for me.
