That was their concept vehicle back in 2004... not sure if that will actually ever see the light of day. Would have been cool. Especially the N2O boast button on the dash!

...The modern concept is clearly intended to go off-road, with four-wheel drive, a winch, a full-size spare tire and 18-inch tires. It’s powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which delivers far more torque — 244 pounds-feet — than horsepower, 128 hp. The driver can give the engine a temporary 50-hp boost with a stream of nitrous oxide via a button on the dashboard... source (http://cars.com/go/features/autoshows/vehicle.jsp?autoshow=&vehicletype=concept&autoshowyear=2004&vehicle=concept_ford_bronco)

but they put it out there back in the 2004 show... nothing has been updated on it since... although it is still showing as a concept on the official site... does this mean it's not completely dead in the water?!?!?

Interesting article... Thanks for posting it.

Looks like they are trying to find a tiny platform to build it on. So instead of a rebirth of the original bronco, we will be getting a bronco lite. Something roughly the same size as the first Suzuki Samurais. That's a great little trail rig for two. Not something for a family of 5 though.

...and I am not about to wait another two years minimum, either.

Here's a photo of a current vehicle on the same platform, Ford B3, they are considering for it...

It's going to be a small vehicle! Not in the same catagory as the Patriot.

Here's a little update on the Ford Bronco.....towards the bottom:

"
Of course, a new Bronco wouldnt exactly target potential Hornet buyers, but rather aim in on those who might otherwise opt for Dodges new Nitro SUV, one of Jeeps models, or any number of off-road capable compact 4x4s such as Toyotas flashy new FJ Cruiser.

Although being canned a while back, Ford resuscitated the Bronco nameplate with the Bronco concept in 2004 at the North American International Auto Show. Using the same shape as the original Bronco, the 2004 concept, in retrospect, bears a lot of the same design cues as Dodges Hornet. So, why revisit the Bronco concept two years later? Because John Wolkonowicz, a former product planner for Ford, announced to the Chicago Tribune that Ford has been developing the concept for a surprise launch in 2009. Code named BV410, Wolkonowicz says it will be competing most directly with the Jeep Wrangler, and should come in at under $20,000; a capable off-roader as well as a commuter-friendly runabout"

I can see how with this config. they will go after the Wrangler market...

..it won't get as far unless they give it more under the hood than just a juice button!

Agreed....but I think that is just a toy to let people know they have the capability. Not that they'd ever have practical use for it.
