Hello,
My family has some thoughts moving to Florida (Paml Coast/Daytona Beach area). Personally, I've never been to Florida and was hoping somebody could help me answer a few questions. If you live in Northern Florida, how's the weather in winter/summer? I'm also concerned with taxes(sales,income)...I know there is no state income tax. What are your Patriot's registration/taxes that you pay to DMV? Is there smog check required, how often? Are there any other vehicle fees/taxes that need to be paid? Is there a problem to find a home/duplex for rent/cost? I'm going to do some research online, but thought maybe you could help me out from the first hand experience. Any help/advice is appriciated.

Hello,

There are no state taxes. Sales tax is 6% where I live, but it varies throughout the state. There are no inspections per se. That said, they do have road blocks occasionally where they check for drivers license, insurance (insurance is required in Florida) and saftey issues such as properly working wipers, lights, tires, etc... Housing is *generally* cheaper here than where you are. Home owners insurance, OTOH, is likely more expensive because of our yearly bouts with hurricanes. But again, that can vary as well. I live 25 miles inland. Thus, my insurance isn't too bad.
