hello, I have a few scratches on the rear of my black pat from a close run-in with a tree at the end of my driveway. they aren't real deep, deffinitely not through the clear, other than wet sanding/buffing, do any of you guys have any experience removing scratches with any of these "scratch remover" products they sell at auto stores? or is there another easy way to fix it without sanding and buffing? thanks!!!

Try the Mothers scratch remover then use the Mothers sealer/glaze and follow with wax. The first two should fill in the scratches, depending on how deep they are. You said they are not through the clear coat, so I would try that first and see. Getting into wet sanding is something I would leave to a pro, unless you are a pro already?

I hit a stump last year and got some deep scratches in the frond bumper. At the next time i took the car to be service at the deslership, I asked about and they gave me a sample of touch up paint, exactly the same black pearl as the car, so I just applied that and waxed after dry, and now I can't even find that spot anymore. If you don't get it for free, I'm pretty sure you can find it for sale. Just make sure you're buying the exact colour.

You may want to try the Meguiar’s Scratch X. Have heard good reviews about it.

thanks! i'm not a pro but if i really had to wet sand it i could probably do it, I just don't want to. I might call the dealer to check on that touch up paint! otherwise I'll try one of the scratch removers mentioned. thanks for the help!

Fix-It Pro (brand) makes a clear coat scratch repair/filler that is in a pen like applicator. You can get it at any auto parts store. Works OK on small scratches. Just a tip if you use it, follow the instructions exactly and use a THIN coat and let it dry in the sunlight. I made the mistake of putting it on too thick and it dried like glue. I learned my lesson.

I ended up buying the simoniz touch up kit, the tube of compound that came in the kit buffed out most of the smaller scratches, and the clearcoat pen worked ok for filling in the deeper scratch I followed the instructions but had to do it multiple times to fully fill in the scratch then followed it with the rubbing compound, now it looks good as new!

plain, pure, unadulterated, garden variety rubbing compound. Then follow up with a good protector wax or polymer finish.
