Hey guys... I went to a dealer down the street today in Boston - theres still apparently not one patriot in New England.. but I did work out the pricing for a pre-order and i was very disappointed, especially in the lease program... I think this is how they can sell these for so cheap... the financing and leasing programs are ridic... I had leased a brand new '01 XJ sticker 24,500 with 1k down for 36 months 15k miles and paid 280 a month... For a 20,500 patriot with same details they want 440 a month - about 50 dollars less than an 07 grand cherokee... to buy its 5k down for 60 months was about 360 a month at an estimated rate of 6%... I guess the buy payments are strictly mathematical but the lease payment? I can prob find a mid range JAG to lease for about that much... Im hoping that its just that the ealer didnt have the proper info - which I assume because I told them more about the patriot than they knew but I sure dont want to have to wait a year to get a decent program to lease

Um buying a Jeep in New England in the middle of winter... Good luck. It is probably cheaper to fly to the Southeast and then drive it back.
No there are no Patriots in stock here either. The expected delivery is March for most dealer inventory orders.
I don't know about leasing as never went that route. Prefer to negotiate cash price then discuss any financing. I usually walk in with a note and let them match the rate. May cost me the origination fee but usually gets me 1/4 of a point off the note.

$5k deposit? I've never heard of anything like that...most financing companies require $1k down.

5K down on 20500 is 15500 at 6% is 299 per month for 60 months.
The reason is the GC holds it value much more than a Patriot. You can lease a GC get a much better price then you would a Wrangler or Patriot. My GC I'm driving now was stickered at $35,000, but was a cheaper lease then a $27,000 Wrangler.

Leases are like apples and oranges..Let me explain. When you lease a Grand cherokee or 2001 cherokee that vehicles are an incentivised lease, Meaning the factory has a specail APRMoney factor or a increased residual value/lease end price. We run into this mostly with German or japanese car leases. the patriot is new and unproven so the banks are guessing at this point, when dcx needs to move a volume or compete with toyota/honda on leases you will then see the silly $149 or $199@27mo with $2998 down. In translations you will have to put the fees down as well which add another $1500-$2000 dwn..thats what auto makers/dealers fail to mention in advertising.
