Hey Everyone Newbie here. So I just sold my integra and Im about to order my Patriot. I cant wait......Im looking at getting the Limited fully loaded. Well my question is Ive been looking at the roof rack that has the rectangle lights on the top. Will this be a upgrade or do you think I could order that when I buy my Patriot?? Also, does it just attach to the the stock roof rack????

Well, since DCX reads this board, maybe they will notice that we all want one of these!

Great discussion, but does anyone know anything about it? OE? Concept? Production?

That is the concept done for the SEMA show several months ago. Search elsewhere on the web for more info...

It's obvious, since there's drilling involved, etc. that the standard crossbars are not made to be removed. I'd like to remove them, since I don't plan to use the rack, and I expect the fuel mileage may increase incrementally. The problem: If they are obviously designed to not be removable, are they STRUCTURAL, do you think? Could they possibly be a strengthening component of the roof - maybe even associated with rollover protection? If not, they're coming off, with a chainsaw, if necessary! (Well, not REALLY...)

You can remove the cross rails by "popping" off the plastic ends on the raised roof rails. There are 2 bolts under each of the four plastic caps that have to be removed and the whole assembly comes off of the Jeep (you will need a buddy to help you lift it off, not heavy, it is awkward). You then can slide the factory cross rails off one end. Then reattach the raised roof rails. When bolting back to the Jeep ensure to re-wrap the bolts with "Teflon Tape". I did it this morning, it took me about 20 minutes.

The hardest part was finding our torx set :) Thanks for the info and it beats the dealer's 2 options (cut them off or 300+ in labor to find the location of the bolts). I am going to try our other jeep dealer after all this and see if I get better results...

Hate to bring up a really old thread but has anyone heard of or seen any product similar to these concept roof rails? They look too good not to be produced sometime!

How about the painted door handles?
