P.S. any good basic offroad trails in ohio?
jeepmuck 03-20-2008, 10:36 AM I live in the Youngstown area.
Don't know if of any good trails unfortunately.
firemothjoe 03-20-2008, 07:46 PM Dayton, Ohio.
My pic is on the avitar. Taken the first day I baught it. You can see the reflection of the tree in its hood. Thought that would be a neat pic. My specs are under the avitar.
I know of some bridal trails at Ceasars Creek and Sycamore State Park but I think those are meant for horses and snow mobiles only. There's a place called Haspin Acres in Indiana. Wicked off road trails. Pretty neat. Been there once. Won't go there again because the place is so heavily "used" it's either extremely muddy or extreemly dusty. Not sure Ohio even has any real offroad trails, unless it's on private land.
kenosha 03-21-2008, 02:06 PM i used to live in Boardman and from what i remember all of the roads in Mahoning County are good off road trails lol

Thats exactly where I live and yea, the roads are a real "moonscape" out there!
smooth-op 03-26-2008, 11:59 PM I am in Knox County (Mt. Vernon)! We have a lot of fields (farmland) and gravel roads, but most is privately owned, although many sites are so far out in the middle of nowhere that no one would see you there!
Schoat333 04-09-2008, 02:33 PM There have been tons of patriots in the cleveland area. I think we need some jeeppatriot.com decals to promote that way more people find out about this site. Nothing too obnoxious tho. just a small decal would be ok.
sciron4x4 04-10-2008, 12:48 PM Got a couple people coming from Ohio for the camping trip in VA this September. Check out http://jeepcommander.co.nr for more details. :)
Schoat333 04-10-2008, 12:55 PM so baby commanders are welcome?
hunter44102 04-10-2008, 01:57 PM I am one of the Cleveland area Patriot owners. I've had mine since June 2007. Pics are in the gallery.
I didn't drive it as much in the Winter (I want to try to rust-proof it first), but I did have lots of fun in the snow.
I drove to Cleaveland to pick up my Compass. It was @ Adventure Chrysler Jeep. Does that count?
As for places to drive, TN is great. I had a vacation in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area and really liked it. Not sure how many trails there are. Also, West Virginia. THere are lots of trails for ATVs, but again, not sure about vehicles.

as long as your not a pistons fan ;) . jk
You drove all the way here for a compass? thats crazy. well not really i have a jeep dealer right by my house but i drove 40 mins to the west side of cleveland to get my patriot because my city didnt have one i wanted.
By the time I noticed the big rebate in early March on 2007 Compi (?), there were but a few 5-speeds around. I missed my first choice by 1 hour as someone else bought it before I got to the dealer 25 minutes from my house. The second one was 15 minutes from my work, but it had more stuff than I wanted to pay for. The next closest 5-speed was Cleveland, 220 miles from my house. I was prepared to drive my truck down and tow it back, but got a sucker, er, coworker to go with with me.
I searched for Patriots too, but they were $2k more similarly equipped and I found zero 5-speeds within 200 mile radius. 2008 models with the $2500 rebates again are running $2000-2500 more for similar equipment. So, 1 day wasted to get the deal I wanted, even if it is the uglier MK.

I wouldnt say uglier. We all have to admit it takes a person with special taste to buy any jeep :D . It weird that you say the patriot was more expensive because when i bought mine it was the other way around.
$4750 rebate vs. $2750. Compass Sports are more expensive than Patriot Sports, but the Limited are about the same.
AmyBrink 04-17-2008, 08:20 PM Dublin, OH here. "Bought" mine in Indianapolis (lived there at the time) in Feb., 2007. Had to order it to get everything I wanted and didn't actually get it until the end of April. I had to go to every dealership in town to find one on the lot with a stick so I could test drive it. Most of them said "it doesn't matter, it's all the same" Told the salesman at the first dealership I'm here to buy a car today and this is what I want. Somehow he only heard the buy today part and tried to sell me anything and everything on the lot because "those Patriots won't be out for another 3 weeks. Nobody's got them." I found them at the next dealership. Why they gotta be like that?
Trybefan24ksu 04-21-2008, 12:24 PM I live in the Warren area (Champion to be exact).

Schoat333 04-23-2008, 11:54 AM Good to see all of these ohio owners. It looks like the Patriot is a popular car in Ohio and Michigan. Maybe eventually we can plan a meet somewere.
ricku 04-23-2008, 12:19 PM Kalida (little town just northwest of Lima).
Home of Pioneer Days (always the weekend after Labor Day). Big Party !!
OhioJeepPatFan 04-24-2008, 04:28 PM Coming at ya from Lorain, Ohio. So nice to see more and more Patriots around. I get stopped by more people asking how I like it and I get to babble on and on about my baby:blah: I too had to order mine to get everything I wanted, took awhile but it was so worth it. Tiggers 2 months old and still has that wonderous new car smell:D
Bought mine in Heath, Ohio this past weekend. I really haven't thought of off roading in it yet. They wanted me to buy another PT Cruiser but I wanted a Jeep Patriot. Something 4x4 for the winter time and not a gas guzzler. Kept looking at the Jeep Patriot and it's 2.4L engine. I liked the looks of it. Kinda reminds me of the Hummer with the boxed shape body and no $30,000+ price tag. Mine was $18,895w/ a $2500 rebate. I am seeing more of them on the road now too. Happy trails everyone.
JeepsterGuy 05-01-2008, 10:05 AM Cleveland West Side here...
Had to order mine also...No Limited, 5-spd, 4x4's. Should arrive in about a month.

welcome to the family. :smiley_thumbs_up:
Is chrysler still giving the rebates?
smooth-op 05-02-2008, 01:50 PM Got mine in Mt. Vernon Ohio (40 miles east of Columbus), but will be living in Columbus in a few weeks. I bought the 4x2 2.0l, put the K&N filter on, added a pinstripe and some other small mods. My favorite thing to do is take it on adventures. I feel that gravel roads all have the same name: "Patriot blvd"
hawgman94 05-16-2008, 09:20 AM Greater Cleveland area here checkin' in. Bought my black 4x2 (2.0) with the autostick at the end of April and caught the $2500 rebate. Just curious if anyone else here upgraded their lifetime powertrain warranty to lifetime bumper to bumper ("lifetime maximum care") ??? I plan on drivin' this thing till the wheels fall off ....and then make jeep put them back on ! (LOL)

congrats on the new purchase. I didnt opt for the extended plan because once the factory bumper to bumper is up ill just do the work myself if needed.
Jeepasaurus Tex 05-26-2008, 10:26 AM City of Cleveland resident here. Went after my Pat on Thursday, picked it up Saturday afternoon at 1pm. I actually went to look at the Compass, but it turned out not to be what I wanted. The Patriot was just what I needed, and was significantly cheaper, as all of the Compass models in stock had lots of extra equipment, and I don't need or want it.
Mine is a Khaki, Slate Grey int., 4X2. Sport "D" package got me the 2.4L, 5-speed manual, manual locks and windows. Just a plain ol' Jeep. I love it. They didn't have one like I wanted in stock, so it took a couple of days to locate and get from another dealer, but they did it, and I've been a happy camper.
I had my choice of a $2500 rebate, or the $2.99 gas deal. I took the rebate, and lowered my payment quite a bit. I'll save a ton on gas just by owning the Pat, so that seemed like the best route for me to go. I now have a brand spanking new ride, with a great warranty, that is everything I wanted, and nothing I didn't, for the price of a decent mid-mileage used SUV. You can't beat that with a stick.
csutton 05-26-2008, 10:53 AM Tipp City, Ohio Everyone knows where that's at.... Right?.....? I ordered a red limited 5-speed 2 weeks ago and here I wait. How long do you think it will be.
csutton 05-26-2008, 10:56 AM I got my 2500 rebate 2weeks after they said they were over.

Jeepasaurus Tex 07-02-2008, 07:06 PM So... With just a 4X2 Pat I don't get to be in the club? If it's off-roading time, I usually just fire up my XJ. I purposefully bought a 4X2 Pat to save me gas as I travel like crazy for my work.
I am really busy, but if a 4X2 could fit into the club, I'd be willing to try to make a meet and greet sometime. Especially if it happened to fall when I was on my way to somewhere...
firemothjoe 07-02-2008, 10:22 PM Of course you're invited Jeepasurus! As we've read in other threads, 4x2's do pretty good on novice trails- which is what we'll be doing. If you get stuck, myself or Wwworth will be happy to tug you out.
Go over to a thread called "new club, tri-state mk's" and make a post. We got a trailride set for the 22nd but still havent quite figured out where to go yet.
