: Nu Finish or 3M Performance Finish?
GenXer 08-10-2010, 08:12 PM Neither are waxes and both are polymer based. One is $8, the other is $13. Both got some great reviews. Have any of you used Nu Finish or the 3M? Oh, I read somewhere that I should clay bar the vehicle even though it's new. Is that good to do?
dixiedawg 08-11-2010, 07:55 AM I've been using nu finish for a long time, easy to use, lasts a long time, seems like good protection.
Afmcronnie 08-12-2010, 12:18 AM I never tried either of those. I use the Turtle Wax Ice, which is a polymer also. It's main benefit is ease and speed of application. It doesn't last near as long as a paste wax. The clay bar is a good idea if your finish feels a little rough to the touch. I use it mainly on tar spots and baked bug guts. Works great.
dixiedawg 08-12-2010, 06:53 AM Not sure on the clay bar, I use WD40 to remove bugs and tar.
The Nu-Finish seems to last a long time, and seems like good protection.
bass567 12-01-2010, 11:47 PM +1 on the Nufinish.
I have ued it for years (prob
ably more than 10 years) on my cars after I was rather disappointed with several waxes.
Nufinish is really-really durable. I typically use it just twice per year. The water still beads after many washes.
I know it is an old formula, it may be that there are better products by now...
Ignatz 12-02-2010, 10:17 PM Ditto bass567. I can't imagine worse conditions for a car's finish than New England. Temps can get over 90 in the summer, well below zero in the winter, and the DOT is generous with the salt and sand.
AntDragon 12-02-2010, 10:49 PM I'd go for Nu-Finish too. I have some other stuff I've yet to apply, but a friend and his brother are car enthusiasts and highly recommend Nu-Finish when I asked what to use on my wheels and Jeep. My buddy uses it on his vehicles and will use it on a opel GT he's rebuilding, his brother uses it on a brilliant Z06. Even when I took advantage of a deep discount at a car wash, the guy buffing vehicles was using it (the results in my avatar- though in the shade under trees).
shotinthenads 12-03-2010, 06:05 AM Nu-Finish for me. I even used it on the windows, which seems to help keep them clean.
jepstr67 12-03-2010, 08:02 AM I've used the Nu-finish and it does give an incredible shine. When I was going back and forth between Raindance wax and Nufinish, I noticed the Raindance lasted longer but less shine. I have no complaints about NuFinish other than it did not last as long as the wax.
Wooden Dog 12-03-2010, 03:32 PM I'm also a longtime NuFinish user.
I haven't found abything that lasts longer.
This year I've been trying Black Magic, and it is a pain to take off because it smears. It lasts a while, but nothing like NuFinish, which I will be going back to.
09PatSprt 12-05-2010, 02:29 PM I use Nu-Finish (liquid) and have excellent results - goes on/comes off easy, good shine & lasts quite a long time. Did the Pat in July and water still beads nicely (changed to snow now ). Anyhow, I'd recommend Nu-Finish from years of experience using it.
karlo 12-06-2010, 01:52 AM For me, Nu Finish works better than 3M in terms of shine and long lasting effect.
Harbor 12-06-2010, 10:12 AM I was a longtime NuFinish user, but swtiched to a product called Rejex with much better results and a longer lasting finish.
elizabeth 12-07-2010, 12:04 AM I use Nu Finish but have been wanting to try rejex. Thanks for the post.
