Has anyone looked into getting a smaller muffler for the Patriot? I was thinking about going to the local muffler shop to see if I could get a smaller and better flowing muffler. I always would buy a cat back exhaust system for vehicles I have owned. Spending 300 bucks though is getting tough to do. Some forums I have read suggest going to the local muffler shop and have them custom make an exhaust system and it turned out to be cheaper than buying a kit. I know the place I would go to use flowmaster mufflers. One thing I don't want is my patriot sounding like a weed wacker. So I'm not sure if I even want to mess with it but that trash can looking muffler needs to go.

IMO, 4 bangers always sound like weedwhackers/angry bees in a jar with loud mufflers...I'd keep it stock, or get an even quieter muffler...my $.02 :hammertime:

Actually, a proper exhasut on this engine sounds really good. I hate the sound of Honda's with pipes, but the SRT_4 (same engine just turbo) soundsa very nice on pipes, and the Subaru Flat 4 sounds absolutely angelic in tone on aftermarket exhaust. Its all about finding the right pipes

well my fiancee has bought a caliber srt4 and it sounds nice at start up and flying down the hiway, not like a honda but a tuned car. sounds really good, i always tell her it sound like a honda. She dosnt like that :P

but her muffler is just a regular sized muffler, possibly a magnaflow.

HawgGuy I like the look of your exhaust. I see you also have a hitch. What hitch do you have and was their any clearance issues with the exhaust?
