Hey guys -

A question for those of you that are more experienced with Jeeps than I.

Do you think we can expect to see any changes or tweaks between the 2007 and 2008 Patriots?

I'll be seriously sniffing around for a Patriot at the end of the year, and am just curious if I might see some changes between the two years.

Thanks!

IMHO - there will be refinements and maybe some little tweaks. For the most part they will look the same and run the same. You will get a deal on the '07s when the '08s near. It's that way with all vehicles.

Take a look at the '08 Liberty...it is drastically different in styling than the '07 and older.

That was after several years though...probably not too many changes from '07 to '08 in the Patriot

I would imagine the Patiot will stay pretty much the same for several model years. Maybe some mechanical fixes, and a change in colors/options/wheels (lets hope)

If it follows the route of the beloved Cherokee, there will be very few major changes during its production run. If it is well received, which I think it will be, let's hope that is the case.

i would be suprised if 08 saw many changes...

I'm including a few i think should be changed just in case some dcx guys read it! :)
The main change I would like to see is the subtraction of the silver plastic covers on the bumpers on the limited - looks god awful. Try running boards or something else. Maybe the introduction of the glove compartment cooler box from the caliber - rather then the empty hole in the dash in both the compass and patriot. Maybe more horsepower (5-10) with some of the srt tweaks used in the srt caliber (since they share the same base engine). Softer arm rests and a gear shift that says (JEEP) would also be cool.

That and maybe upgraded materials for the interior (dash, etc). Since that seems to be the one thing the Patriot is catching the most flak for in reviews. Even if its just upgraded on the Limited.

According to Allpar, the World Engine was made for add-on blowers. A turbo on the 2.0 engine could be the best of all worlds for the Patriot-Compass-Caliber. The MPG of the 2.0 but with 200+ HP when gassing it.

I knew they left all that extra room under the hood for a reason. A turbo on the 2.4L...... That would awesome..... Wonder how much that kit will go for?

however, I read an article on the srt4 that said the reason its not all wheel drive is that the transfer case for the patriot/compass/caliber isn't strong enough for that amount of horsepower so I wouldn't hold my breath for it since at this time there are no plans to make the srt4 all wheel drive.

The Caliber gets the 2.4 turbo with the SRT-4. Don't think they've priced that one yet.

True. Or so I've also read.

But the 2.4 turbo will be 300 HP. I'm thinking of the 2.0 engine boosted to maybe 220 HP. I probably shouldn't hold my breath for it but the latter would be a nice deal if they can do it.

Patriot probably needs to remain competitive with the blown Subaru Forester, hence we might see the turbo providing at least 225HP, perhaps with the manual tranny. A turbo Patriot, particulary if a two door were available, could potentially be a viable rally vehicle; the XJ was the last Jeep that was light enough to race.

I would also expect/hope to see the 2.0 turbo diesel with six speed manual. VW has already announced the 2.0 (bluetec) for 2008. The new 2.0 meets all 50 state emission requirements and should provide nearly the same torque as the blown 2.4 gasser but in a more useful driving range and with way better fuel economy.

Perhaps DC will spiff up the interior since it is taking a lot of hits regarding its cheap plastic look and feel.

I know this has been brought up many times, but I would like to see the steelies go away and put something that looked like the Cherokee sport star rims on the patriot. They already have the rims that are obviously Jeep Cherokee Classic inspired, could it be that hard to make sport rims as nice to?
