The Compass 4x4 has a base sticker price of $17,585. The Compass Limited's base sticker price is $20,140. Base sticker price of the Compass Limited 4x4 is $21,740. All prices include shipping.

I hear that the price of the Patriot is supposed to be under that of the Compass. Possibly why its being not coming out until the Compass has a few month's of sales under its belt.

Will the base Patriot Limited w/ ADVII pkg be under the $20k mark?

The initial news (rumor?) was that the base Patriot would start at $16,500, and the Limited would start around $19K. I can only hope right now, but it would be very sweet if a loaded Limited with FDII (Trail Rated) cost under $22K. But that almost sounds too good to be true, right? I mean the Liberty starts at $21K (on CarsDirect.com, after rebate).

2007 Jeep Patriot
By Larry Edsall

On Sale: Late fall 2006
Expected Pricing: $19,000-$23,000

The Patriot is the country cousin to the new and citified Jeep Compass.

Jeep promises that the Trail-Rated Patriot will be the most capable 4x4 in the compact crossover sport utility vehicle category, thanks to its Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package.

Like the Compass, the Patriot will be available in front-wheel drive or with a four-wheel-drive system with a Lock mode to enhance traction in inclement weather.

But the Patriot gets an additional Freedom Drive II option with a continuously variable transaxle with a low range that engages when the off-road mode is activated. The package includes 17-inch all-terrain tires, a full-size spare tire, air-filtration system, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps and a seat height adjuster. Jeep says the FDII system is recommended "for true off-road situations that include steep grades, wheel lift and rock or log climbing."

Jeep says it developed the FDII package to provide the benefits of a traditional transfer case without the added weight, an important factor when it comes to a compact and crossover utility vehicle...
