The brain is a great thing. It never forget anythying even if you think so.
I just remember that i had already a Chrysler car in the past.
It was spring 1990. I had no money, no car but a girlfriend and a cousin from Mannheim who visited us in spring 90.
When he saw that i had no car he went to a dealer and bought a new one and gave me his old car as a gift.
It was a Chrysler Simca. I donīt remember the model i guess it was one of those early 80s french build Chrysler Simcas. Very basic but i didnīt complain.
I was lucky to had something to drive.
The bad thing was that i hadnīt it for a long time.
It was in May when we (my girlfriend , my friend, his girlfriend and i) went back from a Stranglers concert in Hamburg.
It was late night when we arrived home and my friend had another few kilomters on his way home so i lend him my Chrysler.
Next day a telephone call wake me up and it was someone from my insurance company having some questions about the accident. I was irritated and asked what accident and then she told me about an accident my car was involved with this morning. I had no clue and walked to my friends home. Later he told me that he and his girlfriend had nothing better to do to kiss each other while driving through a curve and rammed another car.
Noone was hurt but my car was destroyed and he doesnīt had money to pay for it...

Did he remain your friend?

When I used to do work overseas, I once rented a Chrysler PT Cruiser when I was in SF. Stragely I really liked it and considered buying one when I returned to the UK. Sadly the Chrysler dealership had a rubbish salesman who put me off buying one.

I owned a PT for two and a half years before getting the Cherokee. Great car with lots of room. A bit on the thirsty side though.

Did he remain your friend?

Yes he did but he leaved Germany a few months later and went to Mexico for some years.

Yes he did but he leaved Germany a few months later and went to Mexico for some years.

You must be a hopeless romantic to accept his excuse for wrecking your car. Hopefully, he'll make enough money in Mexico to finally repay you.

I owned a Simca once. Compared to other imports in the early '70s, it was a good little car, very comfortable (in the French style), and a peppy performer, considering it had a 1.2 litre engine. I drove it five or six years, then sold it to a student who got several more years out of it. Simcas were only brought into Canada for two years.

My Simca had one chronic problem - arcing distributor caps. Finally discovered the cause - water getting inside. The solution? Wrap the entire cap with duct tape, which is how we repair everything in Canada..
