yep thats mine, thanks for the kind words.
I bought a can of Smoke Lense Spray Paint off ebay for about $30 with shipping. The directions are in Japanese so I just guessed on how to use it. Here's what I did:
Mask off the area around the lights with the green or blue painters masking tape and cover the surrounding area with newspaper, the tape doesn't leave any residue on your paint when you peel it off.
Clean the lens with rubbing alcohol and a soft lint-free cloth (microfiber) to remove any grease/dirt
Apply thin even coats, I waited 10-15 minutes between coats and I applied 10+ coats. I held the can about 10 inches away from the lights. Give them as many coats as you want until you are happy with the color. Don't make them too dark or you won't be able to see the bulb when it's on.
If you get any overspray you can use rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth and it rubs off pretty easily.
I painted them in my garage, I would not recommend painting them outside because of dirt and crap in the air from wind. I also took the tape off as soon as I was happy with the color to make sure it didn't bond with the paint. I let them "cure" for 36 hours before driving to make sure it was dry just to be safe. 12-24 hours should be fine.
eng3ine 02-23-2008, 11:05 PM looks good especially with the black wheels to match, i like the semi murdered-out look. the chrome grill and door handles look real good too.
WhatARiot 02-24-2008, 01:07 AM Nice! I will be asking around to see if this is legal around here. $30 seems a little much, you can get a can of niteshades for like $12-$15 at a local shop. I am regretting not getting black.
jack.allwardt 02-24-2008, 01:09 AM These look great, my friend! What did you use to do this?
Mateo 02-27-2008, 03:57 PM Do you have the lights on in the first picture?
newjeepgirl 02-27-2008, 04:06 PM Looks cool on the black pat, so does the chrome grill inserts!

jeepkid 02-27-2008, 11:37 PM AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!! black pats rock!
jeepkid 02-27-2008, 11:39 PM do you have a good pic of the door handles pleassssssssssse!????!!!!!!!!
They look like they could use a few coats of clear to match the gloss of the paint.

The lights are pretty shiny but compared to the body you can notice a difference for sure. If my jeep wasn't black they would look good the way they are. I would give them a clear coat but I don't know what type to buy. If I use the wrong stuff I heard that the black will get cloudy and possibly loosen off the tint. Does anybody know what a safe clear-coat would be? Or perhaps a wax of some type?
jeepkid: here's a side view of my jeep, this was taken in the summer before I tinted the lights. If you want I can take some better pics on the weekend for you, let me know;)

jeepkid 02-29-2008, 11:02 PM THANKS!!! looks awsome. im considering chrome'n the grill (inserts) and geting chrome handles to my black pat.
my concern is that it will clash with the rims that come with the wheel and tire group and the silver (not chrome) body side moldings that can be added at the dealer.
jeepkid 03-01-2008, 01:07 AM did u get the handles off ebay?
Jeep_Bastard 03-01-2008, 06:29 PM did u get the handles off ebay?
yeah. They were pretty cheap too ($50 for the set). I'm sure if you search you'll find some, maybe there will be some good pics in the auctions too!!

Krylon fusion is designed for plastic and should be fine on top of the spray tint. I used a product called Niteshades which I imagine is just about the same as what you used and then sealed it off with three coats of clear... (this is on my Intrepid)

WhatARiot 03-03-2008, 10:33 AM Gaze have you had a problem with cops here in NJ with the tail lights like that?
No problems witht he police.... Though admitedly I haven't driven the Intrepid in a few years. It had a few mechanical issues and will be back on the road in the Spring.
HINKLE777 03-28-2008, 11:20 AM i love ur patriot!
i just bought a 2008 black on sunday.
does ur 22's slow down or cause any difference with driving? also with braking??
im considering putting either 22's or 24's on mine. black with chrome lip most likely.
smoking the tail lights, chrome inserts, in dash touchscreen, 2 headrest monitors rplace doors with mids and highs, green neons underneath, and airbag suspension.
cyberpine 05-18-2008, 01:56 AM Bastard,
Looks great.
What size tires are those? Those rims almost look like painted 17"s. If my stock 16" looked more like the Liberty 05 steels I would have just painted them flat black instead of buying these American rims.
I painted my muffler with high heat paint .. highly recommended
More of an off road truck look here though..

absolutely. as long as my jeep looks good, who cares if it is unsafe and hurts people.
that's the most ridiculous statement ever. which is why i changed the bulbs in my corner lights to cluster LEDs in order to shine brighter through the tint at night and are still more than capable of being seen. if not, better than they were before. thank you.

Their you are that's for Kansas the problem is when off IF you have no reflect ability in them that is illegal. not to be an azz but why do people insist of not following the law its their for a reason.
