Just finished a test drive of a Sport 4x2 Steel Blue Metalic Patriot! Had the power group(windows, doors, outlet, keys) Sound Package...for 19k

You CANT judge this vehicle by the pictures. It is like a mini commander with good gas mileage. If I didn't have student loans and a marriage coming up I would have bought this car on the spot. If I get a chance over the weekend(and if it hasn't sold) I will post some pics. :D

btw...Im in the STL area, about 4hrs from the plant.

First impressions: Car handles great. Like another poster said, 0-60 is like a walk in the park. You cant feel the transmission and the jeep takes you to highway speeds without even thinking about it. Although there is a lot of plastic, It doesn't feel cheep. At least not to me. I am 5'7 and there is about a foot of space between my head and roof. I have the 9 channel stereo and it beats the socks off my upgraded Mazda with 12" infinity sub. This jeeps got some beat. Only thing I am questioning is the Sirius satelite radio. I have not been able to get the names of songs or titles to display on it....have looked in the book and cant find anything. So any suggestions??

Drivers side: Sits very comfortably, You feel like your driving a large SUV. I couldn't stop driving it yesterday(my odometer has now passed 100)

Passenger seat: Sits comfortably as well. Doesn't have the height adjuster like the drivers seat...but that pretty common nowadays(who cares of the passenger cant see) PLENTY of Leg room. I not the tallest guy but I could stretch my legs to the fullest and still not touch the back of the floorwall.

Backseat: PLENTY of leg room as well and that is with the driver and passenger seat about halfway between the two distance ranges. Its amazing the feel in the backseat. I kinda enjoyed the view from back there.

Cargo area...Need to get a net to keep everything from sliding around. It has plenty of space. You guys know the dimensions. The drop down stereo speakers are GREAT...cant wait until the first camping trip.

The rims....damn they ugly. I couldn't justify increasing my payments another $20 just for looks. But I will be changing those out in the next six months.

btw...called my insurance company and dropped the mazda added the jeep.
For a 23/yo single, not married(yet) my six month dropped from $800 to $530. So ontop of the dealership having the exact vehicle I priced 2 months ago. Yesterday was one helluva day. I will post some pics this afternoon.

Curious, I'm looking to trade in my Mazda 6 for the patriot. How did Jeep do price wise with the trade in? I can hardly wait for them to hit the lots here in Utah so I can try to take advantage of the guy in Heber offering the lift kit.

The car did really well on trade. For a 3 year old vehicle with 52K miles, I was pleasently suprised to get 11,000. Just be sure you know the value of your vehicle and ACV when you go in.

Expected trade from KBB on the 3 was 11,400

When I test drove the Compass there was an info button on the radio that changed the song/title and channel names. Its got to be on the Patriot.

might be a stupid question but...did you activate it yet?

When I first got my Jeep w/ Sirius, it only comes with one channel until you call and activate it.

dacamman
01-28-2007, 02:20 PM
It was activated when I bought the Car. All channels are available. I will call them next week to double check....Maybe the display of Names and Titles are not available until "true" activation???

Ooooooohhhhhh...Congratulations! Only 11 more months to go until I can get mine!:D

I love the looks of the steel blue! I'm torn between that blue and the jeep green. Your pics make me lean further back towards the blue!

Looking at your pics, it looks like the Jeep will suit my needs just fine.

One question for you - how does your view of the road feel from the driver's seat? I drive a low car and am looking forward to being boosted up a little bit. (This point was driven home yesterday at a drive through ATM. I actually had to get out of my car to read the screen because it was so high up!) Do you feel like you're "up there" a bit with the other SUVs?

Ok...another question - how do you feel about the visibility out of the rear window? It was pointed out in another post that the rear window isn't very high, really. Any noticible blind spots from the side? I want to make sure that I can see all the other idiots on the road. :p

And one more thing...a picture suggestion for you. What is under the mat in the back? Spare tire, I'm sure...but I'm curious about the looks of the area under the mat. Would you mind terribly pulling that up and shooting a couple of pics?

Congrats again on your beautiful purchase! I can't wait to hear more reviews from you and everyone else as they get theirs.

1. You feel as if your in a large SUV. My roommate compared the height to driving his parents conversion van.

2. Im glad you asked about the rear window. It is a bit small. HOWEVER, when viewing from the rear view mirror, you have NO loss of sight. I haven't noticed any blind spots. The car has great a great 360 degree view from the inside.

3. I have uploaded a pic of the spare tire.

We just ordered a Limited yesterday. We opted for the full size spare. I saw the picture of your spare and was wondering if a full size would fit in there or do they mount it some where else, like on the tailgate. Anyone know?

I believe the full size tire is mounted underneith the car.

Full size tire is mounted under the cargo area, inside the vehicle. No doubt about it.

I envy every one of you. I was planning on ordering a Jeep Green Sport but my wife told me in no uncertain terms that if I go through with my plans to buy a Patriot, I may as well find a good lawyer too. I wonder if the dealer will take her in trade. Anyway, enjoy your Patriots. I'll never get to own one thanks to her.

The dates been set for our wedding and the notion of living in at her parents house was threatened if I got the Jeep. Well...im home Mom and Dad! J/K, Im taking her shopping next weekend ;) She'll get over it.

You know...my Hubby got his car...that little black 300Z sitting out in the driveway. He was insistant that we get me a car, and wanted me to get a Magnum. But I declined. I told him that I would drive the Buick (a hand-me-down from his parents) and he should go get his Z that he's been lusting after. After all, I got to drive the nice cars while we were in Germany, and he was either hitching rides or riding his bike. He deserved to finally get his car.

HA! Now he has his dream car, and Jeep is finally making mine. Thus, I've declared 2008 to be the year I get my Jeep. Things work out...life is funny that way. Now I just need to decide between steel blue metallic or jeep green...

As much as I want the Jeep... if I was about to buy a house, I would wait on the vehicle. When it comes to credit... a house will not stop you from getting a car; a car can easily stop you from getting a house. Priorities... keep your priorities.

We've already made arrangements to rent for the first couple years. I have an excellent credit score and by the time we are ready to purchase, the Jeep should be about halfway paid off. I didn't rush into purchasing the jeep. I put a lot of thought and consideration into it. Thanks for the advice!

Love to hear that!!! Looking to trade an '03 Mazda 6 and get ABOUT the same monthly payment.

Checked out the ONE Patriot in the Pittsburgh Area on Saturday. Still off-limits to test drive as it is the car show model but looked pretty solid and pictures DEFINITELY don't do it justice
