: Side Deflector

Here's a photo of my side window deflectors. Got them from my dealer. There are two kinds, this one which goes around the top of the windows and attaches with 3M double-sided tape, and another kind that fits inside the window channels.
Many people prefer the inside-the-channel variety, and I tend to agree, except on a black vehicle, these ones look fine. These were the only ones my dealer had. I would have had to order the other kind via internet and pay outrageous shipping.
You asked about wind noise. Not that I've noticed, but I installed them in late fall, so haven't had a chance to drive with the windows open since.

i've had those on a couple of my cars and really liked them....still thinking about whether i want to put them on the Compass or not. haven't seen a Compass with them to see what they look like first......
techteacher 02-16-2008, 11:30 PM Thanks for the pic.
I think you are right about the black...I think it looks fine.
I'd much prefer to stick with Jeep branding....but one poster was pretty upset about the noise problems. I think I read somewhere else that someone also had the Jeep brand and had no noise issues, so who knows...it's something I want to do before Spring so I have some time to read up.
Thanks again for the pics.

Jeepster55: I just looked at a profile (side view) photo of a Compass, and the shape of the upper windows is different than a Patriot. Therefore, the Patriot side window deflectors wouldn't fit. If you go for it, make sure you're getting the ones specifically for the Compass.

but of course.....i work in the Parts Dept of a Mopar Dealership. we just don't have them in stock for me to check out. guess i'll just order them and see what they look like.
as for the wind noise, my other vehicles never had any wind noise due to the vent shades. now if you don't get them installed where they're suppose to be, then i could see that possibility......

Great pictures. How dark are the mopar deflectors? They do look dark in the picture. I have a white patriot and want to get real dark side deflectors.

they're DARK, like 20% window tint:D
DaveJKJ 02-17-2008, 08:14 PM As respects to wind noise I have the WeatherTech in channel ones which fit snugly and no wind noise. I have had them on several different vehicles with no problems.
They look good . I'm thinking about picking up a set myself. I've had them on pretty much every vehicle I've owned and they've worked out great.
Anybody know the best place and price to buy these online? I'll have to search around.
neilcrichton 02-17-2008, 09:41 PM AutoTruckToys.com sells them:
http://www.autotrucktoys.com/jeep_patriot/Jeep-Patriot-Side-Window-Deflectors-C5318.aspx
Compare the price to your dealer's price, and don't forget to add shipping.
Metalhead: For a white Patriot, I think the in channel type would look best, like the ones sold on the linked site.

I would rather have the in channel ones anyway. Boy I have only had my patriot a week and a half and already I have a long list of goodies for it.
Yuker 06-16-2008, 07:57 PM Try autoanything online. they have both styles, free shipping.
craig03 06-16-2008, 08:13 PM I had the deflectors worked in my deal, and I tell you they look AWESOME. Everyone should get them. Think about a nice cool day and you want your window open a little without a shower. They are functional and stylish. ESPECIALLY if you get the Mopar ones with the Jeep logo. HOT HOT HOT Definately increases the appearance of the veh.
Craigman 06-17-2008, 12:02 AM I got mine, here in Canada at Action Van and Truck World, they have numerous outlets all over the country, so if anyone wants to save some $$ over the dealer price, they are exactly the same, as they (autoventshade) make them for mopar the only thing that is missing is the stick in your face Jeep logo. I've also bought the front bug deflector, and it is of the highest quality. side vents...69...front...65. Beat that at the dealer!!! Cheers, Craigman
