We are going to pick up our new patriot today.:D The problem we are having is that we have a signed contract to buy the riot for a price and 5.99% interest. The dealer offered us the 5.99% interest, then they called my wife yesterday and said they made a mistake with the interest rate and want to rewrite the contract to say 6.99% interest. I do not want to rewrite a contract to favor the company and take out of my pocket. If the situation was reversed Jeep would not want to rewrite the contract to a lower interest rate so that they would not make as much money. I am very disapponted:(:( with the fact that I do not have my new patriot and yet they are already putting there hand in my pocket to take more money. I hope Yorkton Dodge will keep there word and the legally signed contract that we have. I will let you all know what happens with the dealership today. My wife is ready to walk away form the deal and go elsewhere for a new vehicle.
Let me know what you guys think about this.

A signed contract is a signed contract. Although it is true that the actual Chrysler interest rate is 6.99% / 5 years . (financing on how many years???)

On the other hand I just spoke to my dealer (will buy my Pat in June, order in April) and I asked him if the interest rate would go down and he expects (hopes) it will drop from 1% in the coming months (maybe your dealer is just ahead of his time). Your dealer should respect his contract. Also the canadian prices have not been adjusted to the strenght of the canadian dollar. Canadian dealers are still making good money. Did he offer any incentives for the Pat??? This is a good one.

Try to stick to your contract Power mans Patriot and wife and yes tell the dealer you'll check elsewhere if contract isn't respected. Maybe that will shake him up ....the eventuallity of loosing a sale. Do check at other dealers, what price you can get.

My humble point of view:notworthy:

Do you have a good relationship with a bank or credit union? Go ask them if they want your business for the rate you want to pay. Many bankers do understand the 100% of 0 theory. Which is,......I can get 5.99%, which is a little lower than I would normally get, or I can get 100% of 0, Hmmmmmmm, I guess I'll take the 5.99% because it is way more than 0.

I'm afraid a loan from a bank or credit union will have a higher interest rate (around 9%).

Well I just got back from the dealership. We drove the pat home. We came to an understanding that if I was going to have to pay for an extra percent than I will get the equivalent amount of product from the dealership. So now I have to decide how to spend the remaining 900 dollars from the deal on execeries. I got the hitch for the Jeep, but what else do I get. Any thoughts? or experience with the jeep products would be nice. I am looking at the hitch bike rack or a canoe carrier or a roof basket. What do you guys use? Soooooo happy to be driving a Jeep.:pepper::banana:

Sorry to hear you fell for the bait and switch. If it truely was a written contract, you should have held them to it, or walked. There's many other dealers that you could have gotten the same 6.99% deal from.

I would have insisted on $900 off the selling price from the dealer to go with the higher interest rate. The dealer has that margin available (I proved that to myself in negotiating my price).

That said, it's now a done deal, so go to town on accessories! Think about if you really want a 1-1/4" factory hitch, or a 2" aftermarket, which is more stable for hitch bike racks, and even towing. I know I'd regret buying the smaller hitch (as we did for our Vibe, which doesn't have a 2" avail.)

Rubber floor mats for sure with the rest of the doh, and aux lights on the top of the bumper are always pricey but cool...

Let us know what you end up picking. I haven't heard of too many factory accessories that people buy.

First I would want to know since they are paying the bill on these parts you should get the items at cost, minus taxes (that way you get a better deal.

With that said I would get the seat covers, the roof basket w/lights (installed) and the tow hitch w/ wiring kit. If anything is left over I would get a performance intake.

don't let the dealership bully you around. walk out of there if you have too, i'm sure there is another dealership that is not that far away that will give you what you want. secondly we bought a 08 liberty and they were playing the same game with us. i told them i don't care if you make the interest rate 10%, i'm not paying more than 350 a month for the car. well wouldn't you know it, they ended up giving us 8% interest but we are paying less then i would have been with the lower interest because they lowered the price of the car. they magically found some extra dealer incentives. like i said walk out of the dealership if they don't give you what you want and go somewhere else. you'll see how quickly they give you what you want.

I'd tell the dealer they are S.O.L.
Deals a deal..If you decided you had issues with the signed contract after you signed, do you honestly think they would say...'Oh..no problem..we'll re-write it"?
Tell them to take the difference in interest rate, out of the commission they made from what they paid for it from the manufacturer, to what they sold it to you for.
case closed!!
I'd try to make them feel better by saying you will committ to taking the vehicle to their own auto service department, for all the warranty work. I read somewhere, a dealership makes more revenue from the service dept. then they make from the actual markup of the cars.

yes, either that OR if they don't want to do that, tell them to just 'cut you a check' for the $900. you can go buy your OWN accessories, like the Husky Mats, etc....and you're not locked in to getting only OEM accessories.

AND if they don't want to do that? tell them they can then honor your original contract of 5.99% or you'll have a nice talk with your Attorney General (or whatever they have in Canada) concerning F R A U D ! ! ! !

REGARDLESS, your dealer shouldn't be permitted to profit off of their mistake and if they don't allow you to get your accessories at DEALER NET COST, then in fact they ARE making money off of their own error....NOT GOOD!

I bought my patriot last Tuesday. On Monday the dealer called me and uped the interest rate 1% after we agreed to the Chrysler Financial Incentive rate. He did explain that Chrysler Financial increased their rate a full percentage point. I checked the Chrysler Financial website and it was posted that the incentive interest rates had been bumped up across the incentive rates a full point. It seemed, unfortunate but checked out. I just signed the papers before it went up again. It seemed I would have faired better if I would have signed the papers a couple days earlier.:(
