: Any custom paint jobs?

I've been reading posts for a couple of weeks, and am nearing the point where I'll be ordering a Patriot. It will be a loaded, FWD Limited.

I'm curious if anyone has opted for a custom paint job...i.e. a two-tone. I've had it done on new cars I've ordered in the past, but that was before the new water-based, pearlized finishes. I'd like to order it in Surf Blue, and then have the lower third painted silver to give a visually lower and longer appearance. I'd also like to paint the door pillars semi-gloss black, like the Chrysler vans are, to visually increase the window size, and to add to the lengthening effect.

My apologies to the mud-bogging, rock-climbing Jeep purists, but I'm wanting a comfortable, good looking Mopar, with decent mileage, and the Patriot fits the bill. Besides, I'm far too old to be getting off-road for my entertainment.

I'm also interested in knowing if there are any aftermarket chrome exterior mirrors and grille. I've searched the web, without success.

Just do a search at eBay on Jeep Patriot if the above links don't work.

Wow, I didn't know that could happen. Better tell my dad and his friends. :)

JK, post pictures when you get her and have her "all fixed up"

Thanks for the links. The mirror covers might work, but I was hoping there might be something more than ABS overlays for the grille and door handles. I saw on another post that there might be some other Mopar door handles that would work. I'll keep an eye on that one to see if it turns out to be accurate.

Newjeepgirl, I was raised on a farm and spent 24 years in the military, so I've had my fill of off-road experiences. Although, I must admit the Lycoming-powered, 8-wheel drive missile hauler, with the floatation tires, was sort of fun at times.

I'll give you a pass on that then :) I've heard that "sort of fun at times" alot from my military friends. Myself, I'll stick to jeep jams - hoping to get a wrangler or maybe a second patriot in a couple years to get back into it.

Oh you meant on a Patriot... No :p

I do custom paint work as a hobby for some of my friends and family (and myself of course), but I won't be touching the Jeep for a few more years!

I actually love teh diea of painting the pillars black. This is a new trend in teh aviation community. If you tiunt the windows dark and paint the pillars all black, it gives the illusion that the windows wrap all the way around the plane. or in our case the patriot.

I tried to find pictures of AOPAs Giveaway airplane for their "Get your Glass" sweepstakes. Their custom paint job has that pillar painted thing goin on their Piper Archer II and it looks awesome.

I like the idea also, You don't actually have to paint either, a decent vinyl graphics person could do it pretty inexpensively, or you could do it yourself. Sucks in NJ you can't tint the front windows.

That's exactly the effect I'd like to replicate. And the vinyl graphics idea is brilliant! If it didn't look right, it's easily reversible.

Any Photoshop experts?
