: BFG All-Terrains/Mud Terrains for MK's
Jeepster55 02-04-2008, 10:45 PM BFG All-Terrains/Mud Terrains for MK's are currently NOT available.
the sizes for the stock 17" wheels would be either a 215/65R17 or a 235/65R17. BFG does have a 16" tire with approximately a 29.5" diameter that can be used on the standard 16" steel wheels, but for those who have the 17" alloys, sorry about your luck.
SO i contacted BFG last week and got a response today from "Molly" that a request to add the above sizes to their lines would be passed on to their "Marketing Dept".
if you are interested in these tires as well, please contact "Molly" at 1-877-788-8899 and tell her YOU want to buy BFG's for your Patriot or Compass. the more that contact them, the more likely they'll consider making them! thanks......
Jeepster55 02-18-2008, 10:08 PM funny.....i see all these threads on 'what tires to use' and 'what is the BEST tire' for these 4X4's. IMO, the 'best' tire is the BFG All-Terrain BUT you can't get it in a 17" for the MK's.....only a few 16"s are available that will fit.
come on people.......you want the best tire? ASK FOR IT!!!!
contact BFG and tell them "I WANT SOME ALL-TERRAINS!!!!"
Desert Dog 02-19-2008, 11:29 AM I agree, BFGs are the best, and it is very disappointing that they are not available in sizes to fit the Patriot. Thanks for posting Molly's number, I'll give her a call this morning.
JeepJim 02-19-2008, 12:33 PM I called BFG a while back... but they said they had no intentions of making 235/65R17's in the near future... But that was just the phone rep. who knows.
pdxbubba 02-19-2008, 03:46 PM BFG AT/ko's are a good all-around tire (except on ice).
I have owned several sets in the past. My current favorite 4x4 tire is the newly reformulated Yokohama Geolandar M/T+ (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+M%2FT+Plus). They look killer, rider quietly, handle everything! and are lighter than the BFGs.
I think that the Yokohama Geolandar AT-S (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+A%2FT-S) were designed for all round use specifically on Jeeps!
metalhead 02-19-2008, 07:32 PM I like the bfg's especially the way they look but they are overpriced in my opinion.
JeepJim 02-20-2008, 01:44 AM the Geolander ATS 235/65 17's are also on back order for another 10-12 weeks according to Tirerack.com
Jeepster55 02-20-2008, 05:38 AM while i honestly can't say i've HAD Yokohama's (other than on a Toyota Supra years ago...), i'm still partial to the BFG's. they got me through EVERYTHING and they rode alot better and quieter than the OEM Goodyear Wranglers that came on my Unlimited.
besides....they've got those cool white letters!!! :D
jason-1900 02-20-2008, 07:34 AM I'm with ya'all, bfg's are remarkebly good tires, my wifes pajero sport's done 90.000km's (still counting) with all terrain's, but for her pat i had to order a set of cooper discoverer atr's in that "normal" size: 235/65-17.
In past i'w owned (n' still have those) 2 sets of cooper tires, one of wethermaster's and others were wintermaster's, both handeled snow n' ice good when new, but weared down too fast, after 50.000km both were done:(
These new ones how ever, promise 50.000Mile waranty! In km's that's alot, so hopin' they deliver what they promise:)
quiff69 02-26-2008, 11:56 AM I've got the 29.5" BFG A/Ts on my 16 inch rims. The ride is a bit stiff at full pressure but they have served well (except for on ice). I took an icy corner too fast while wheelin this past week and knocked my alignment out.
blitzbuggy 02-26-2008, 01:17 PM the general grabbers AT2 work well and look identical to the bfg, they might be available in 17 but i dont know
MrSensible 02-26-2008, 01:46 PM You all do realize that BF Goodrich is owned by Michelin and they both carry most of the same tires under their respective labels. If you can't get it in a BFG you might want to see if there is the equivilent Michelin in that size.
PSU Patriot 02-27-2008, 08:59 AM the general grabbers AT2 work well and look identical to the bfg, they might be available in 17 but i dont know
