Will the new Jeep Patriot be a flexfuel vehicle?

Can you get it to run on E85?

I don't think so. I have only seen reports that the 2007 Grand Cherokee and Commander will be flexfuel.

I have heard that auto manufacturers don't really need to do anything other than reprogramming the ECU and that it is no more expensive to produce a flexfuel vehicle. So if this is true (if it's not then 60 Minutes lies :-P), has anyone been hacking into the ECU (or whatever chip determines the consistency of the fuel) so we can just reprogram our cars to run e85?

Ethanol is more corrosive than gasoline. All seals and gaskets in the fuel system need to be replaced before you can run anything more than the standard 10% in RBOB gas.

Butenol will be another story when that comes to market. It's not corrosive, but it is thicker than gas (think more like kerosene) and injectors may not be able to handle it.
