I went to the dealer yesterday, had an appointment at 10 h. to open my file for the purchase of a Jeep Patriot next June. Order to be placed in April (5 to 8 weeks wait) so I only have two months to shop the best deal.

Gave the sales representative the configuration of the Pat I want:
Patriot North 4X4(Canadian model)
Exterior green / interior beige
Quick order package 25E
Additional Options
Tire & wheel group (600$ can)
Speed control (275$ can)
Full size spare (200$ can)
Trailer tow group (oil cooler and wiring harness) (150$ can)
Fog lamps (115$ can)

So far so good. Now here the funny part. He goes through the web site «Chrysler direct dealer Canada» to build and price my Patriot. A totally different internet site than www.Jeep.ca. reserved to dealers. He is aware of that but the real bible is Chrysler dealer Direct for him. His price is canadian MSRP. With transportation and a/c taxe and other fees the total is 24,168.63$ can before sale taxes

He is willing to deal to keep the sale depending on prices I will get at 2 other dealers.
I will also get Chrysler / Jeep incentives in June
Also a better loan rate (interest rate will go down for sure he says.)
Didn’t deal for invoice cost price or equipment / accessories neither (time will come)

Oh yes, I’m approved for Chrysler credit. My file is active.

Surprise no fog lights option available for Sport or North models Only for the Limited model on his site. This is strange even for him (he’s supposed to solve the matter this week).

Best part, he than mentions the North Special option which doesn’t appear anywhere on the canadian Jeep site (www.jeep.ca) but is offered on his Chrysler dealer direct Canada site!

This North Special option includes Tire & Wheel (215/60/17 Firestone GR. tourism T/S FN),
speed control, audio controls on steering wheel, body side molding, heated front seats and leather steering wheel.

So if I select this option and take off Tire & Wheel option and speed control option from my build and price configuration since they are included in the North Special option,
The total cost is 24143.63$ can (25$ less than my build up price) and I get audio controls on steering, heated front seats, body side molding and leather steering wheel for free!!!)

The sales representative told me he had seen this happened on other models before.
(a pack is better than a personal selection of options).

I think I’m on a good trail for a very good deal with this guy!. :)

A couple things:

You will also get the $1000 Gov't of Canada ecoRebate on this Manual 4x4 (you have to apply for it)
The Full Size Spare should be included in the Trailer Tow Group (not sure why you are paying extra)
In any case the price you are paying looks good.

Thanks Homac, are these 2008 patriot specifications and options for Canada?

Have you ever heard of the North special option (code is AL3)

Hey Pierre,

I just got my Pat 2 days ago and its a North Edition( 25 E). Correct me if i`m wrong but i haven`t seen the special North Edition (code AL3) on any website, catalog etc. If it`s only on the Chrysler direct website, i assume that all dealerships know about this special edition, which is scheduled to "officially" come out later on this year, and they still want to offload them "normal" North Editions. I think this Special Edition will remain out of the publics eye for some time...

If you stick with the Special Edition your one lucky man Pierre. The deal is superb!!! Good luck on further negotiations.

Yes, those are the current models. "AL3" is an identifier for something within the package. It may stand for the "New Canadian Pricing". Do not let them trick you though.....

For example:

CJI=Supplimental Side Airbags
NHM=Speed Control/Cruise
AJB=Security & Cargo Conv. Group
AHC=Trailer Tow Group

Even the color and interior have codes:

PGT=Jeep Green
K6DV=Dark Slate Interior

Take the "Build your own" price including AC charge and Destination charge, then less 3-5% you are in a good spot. GST is added after that.

I know I mentioned it earlier, if you buy a manual 4X4 you get $1000 from the eco Rebate program !

Hey there Blitz,

So, if you purchased the car in Canada you are entitled to the Federal EcoRebate Program.

Here's the link to see if your particular car is eligible, which it is:
2008ecoautoeligibility (http://www.tc.gc.ca/programs/environment/ecotransport/2008ecoautoeligibility.htm)

And here is the link to the Application Process:
Application Process (http://www.tc.gc.ca/programs/environment/ecotransport/ecoautoapplication.htm)

Hope this helps. Can`t say how fast they process it because i`m mailing mine tomorrow, but i bet the Gents, that sent theres', will be more than happy to share their personal experience with EcoRebate Canada. :D

Well, that means they have not included it in the newest North Ed.also. The fog lamps were always an additional option for the North Edition. I`m getting my lamps next week and the price is $ 190. So, for all the new features one gets in the new North, the fog lamps as an additional paid option would not bother me much.

But, you can also double check if its not included or negotiate for them being included. Another option is that they may be included as a standard feature in the near or more distant future. Hard to say.
