I'll be heading to Manassas for the holiday weekend. So if you see me on 81, or 66, or 15, flash the lights or beep.

Red '08 FD2, with hood shield, side window deflectors, and the sure giveaway a painted muffler, and a Penguins license plate frame.

Safe Travels, I commute through Manassas on a daily basis. At least Route 15 is beautiful drive.

I'm only on 15 for a short trip, from 66 to 234. 66 is a nice road too.

I'm thinking of altering my trip slightly, in PA, to avoid the Turnpike though. VA will still be 81 to 66 to 15 though.

Manassas on Memorial Day, you going to the Bug Out @ Old Dominion Speedway show down there?

Gee, didn't even know of that Todde. I lived in VA for awhile, my last 3 years in the Army, and a couple years after that, so just going to visit friends there. We've been trying to go for months and months, but things kept falling through.

I might go into DC and visit the Memorials while there. My dad went last year to the new WW2 one, and I've been to The Wall several times to, well, pay my respects to fallen friends. Not sure if I'll want to on the holiday though and fight the crowds.

Well, if you're into seeing a bunch of cool air cooled volkswagons, check it out for the afternoon. They also have drag races too. My cousin and I used to go every year back when we were kids and both had air cooled VW's. The road trips were always an adventure in his '68 Bus with an 1835cc engine in it. One year we were drafting behind a Grey Hound bus (not too close mind you) and out from under the bus came some partially crushed, wooden furniture. We had no where to go so we had to run it over too. Thankfully nothing on the bus was broken or damaged underneath, but I always remember both of us going "Oh Sh**!" at the exact same time. And the first year we were down there @ 21. We parked in the lot at 9am, realized they sold beer at 7-11, and more importantly, we could buy it. We each polished off a six pack before 11am and had a great day that year (though we forgot to apply sunblock...wonder what made us be that stupid?).

Sounds like fun, although I had planned to leave there around noon or so Monday.

I had a Bug once rear engine, and another rear engine in a Corvair. The Corviar was a ragtop too, and I had plans to put a Porsche engine in it, but then I wrecked it. The front end just collapsed on impact, but no injuries to me at least. They were both pretty good in the snow with the weight in the back.

Well I will warn you... not sure how far south you are going on 15, but Warrenton the past few Friday nights on the 15, 17, 29 Bypass has been backed up from all the to the way the south side of town starting at the north side where the car dealers, Denny's and the Comfort Inn are at. Silly stoplight cycles has been the delay.

No matter where you are headed I wish you all safe travels.
