I went to the north american auto show in detroit on saturday and checked out the patriot first hand... im pretty sure its going to be my next vehicle... i used to have a 93 grand cherokee and with all its problems, full time 4 wheel drive and big V8 gas guzzling i still loved it... right now im driving a 98 mercedes c230 that gets great gas milage and i just payed it off so before getting into another payment im going hold off as long as i can.. but seeing this jeep in person might be hard to do that !

the only thing that annoyed me so far is that the dash board feels really cheap... its a thin hard plastic...im pretty sure i even felt a sharp seam on the inside edge of the cubby in front of the passenger...i joked around to the people i was with that if i get it i am going to look for some kinda of aftermarket carpeted dashboard cover... i think the compass is the same inside...

the headroom inside is crazy though... even in the back seat im so happy i did not pull the trigger on a liberty...

I've seen a compass dash and wasn't impressed. I'm glad the headroom is so generous. I'm 6' and my fiancee is just under and headroom is important for us.
