Yeah will let you know when I find exactly when I'll be there.

My mate with the NEW Wrangler Unlimited is a frequent (at LEAST once a month) visitor, I will follow him at a safe distance. Hopefully everything will be smooth sailing!

then you come another 2000k south and we are in major drought - with bushfires and no rain for weeks - with temps into the 40's or about 110 f

Hi Guys,

got back yesterday arvo.

The Pat was awesome on the sand.

It handled the soft stuff very well, without even letting air out of the tyres!

3 things to remember when off roading in a PAT

1. Turn ESP all the way off by HOLDING the ESP button until ESP off displays on the dash.
2. Stay in 1st gear in soft sand. Deep tracks by other 4WD's were no problem, however the Pat is a bit low in the front and touched a bit on the deep tracks, no damage in sand but could cause problems if there were rocks.
3. Remember to turn ESP OFF each time you go again after stopping as it turns it self on when you stop.

These pics are from Inskip point, were you catch the barge over to Fraser Island.
There was about 200m of heavily tracked and rutted, really soft sand to go through to get to the hard sand and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't make it.
BUt she ploughed through like a tropper!!

Great pics Mud, love your reg plate mate!
A cloudy ol' day for an Aussie summer though, dont you think?
I thought you guys had wall to wall soleil at this time of year?
Are ya anywhere near Ramsay Street, it's always sunny there!
Here in South West France it was sunny with 16°C this afternoon, this is our winter this year, bizzarre, colder mornings though around 2°C

I would think it would have to be a 4x4 from his description since I believe you can't turn off ESP in a 4x2.

got to ferry at 10pm, didn't set up camp till midnight!

yeah, I'm not keen to take it back on the beach. It would have been great if not for the sand and salt water!

know any good tracks between sunny coast and brissy? keen for a meet up this weekend, just a day trip thingy.

great report on the trip Mud - glad it all went well. I got out the weekend before last and did some mud, sand and tracks - nothing serious, but the towbar dragged once and I really had to pick my approach a couple of times. The clearance certainly appears to be the major issue. Would love to get a few extra inches, skid plates and recovery points. Not talking about serious off road work, but just for the sand & track work that I do this would be an improvement.

heya Keith,

I was super keen to do something this weekend, but I have found a place to live and have to move in this weekend. :(

I'm keen to do something in the next couple of weeks though.
lets do some research. I might start a new thread?
