What is the news from you guys doing the Rocky-Road lift? How is it effecting your lifetime powertrain warranty? How is it effecting your front axle shaft angles? Any vibrations? What about fuel mileage and power loss with the new bigger tires?

It's always the same story: your warranty is valid unless it can be proved that the modifications caused any problems. So depending on how plausible it is (maybe the mod would mess up your CV joints over time, but it prolly wouldn't blow your subwoofer), what your dealer is like, and how good you are at making your case it's kind of a nonissue.
My ride, handling, and mileage are not dramatically different from before, with a bit more lean in turns. Since I don't drive the Pat like a sports car it's no worry for me. I run the stock tires. Any major increase in tire size increases unsprung weight and rotational mass as well as making your gearing taller. All of these things will affect performance, handling, and braking far more than will the lift itself.

I get along with my dealers very well and they like what I've done with mine, I expect no hassles from them.
I didn't measure the angles but from what are considered "acceptable" angles and what Glen measured they're fine.
No vibrations at all.
I went from 27.4" tires to 29.1 and have lost maybe 1 - 1 1/2 mpg, I'll be going with 28" before next winter. Handling is really good, maybe not quite as quick threw the corners but nearly negligible. Off the line was a little slower but after 2500 miles we've adjusted to each other and it's very acceptable.
Just a personal opinion: The FD II guys with the lower gears can probably handle the 29" plus tires OK, but the FWD and FD I's should stay around 28" plus or minus just a little bit to get the tread pattern that your looking for.:blah:

good information. I am adding the rocky road lift and, was thinking of going with 30" tires (p235/75R16), but may have to reconsider now.
More research to be done! ...but, save for another day

Gramps, did you have your dealer install the lift or do it yourself?
I'm wondering if it would be safer (to not void the warranty) to have the dealer install it.
Thanks for the advice
