Anyone going to the Detroit Auto Show? If you do grab a camera and post your impressions.
Is the Patriot scheduled to be at the show?

The Patriot most likely will be there. They usually have all production vehicles displayed.

I usually go every year, but couldn't make it this year. (New baby!) I will be at the press preview for the New York Auto Show (Generally the NY show is where Jeep really goes all out)

I will be there this coming Saturday! Can't wait! Missed it last year and in 2005. I'm so excited!

I will have my camera for sure :)

Congrats on the new baby!

I will be visiting the autoshows vicariously. Basically only thru the videos and images people post.

Was going to the Wings game last week, I saw they had the Wranger there already, but didn't see a Patriot through the glass.

Introduced the TrailHawk today, the free press a story and some pics:

I can already state that I don't like this concept. This looks like a car that is 1/2 racing and 1/2 off-road. I just don't like it.

First, if someone wants to take an upscaled vehicle off-road to get ruined, let them go fork over $50,000 - $70,000 to Land Rover. Second, what does this vehicle accomplish that the Grand Cherokee SRD doesn't? Thirdly, this looks less like a "Jeep" than the Compass.

Oh well.

I...Second, what does this vehicle accomplish that the Grand Cherokee SRD doesn't?...

The GC is completely enclosed. This is more open-air Jeep-style. I would prefer it to the GC.

It looks like a cool street machine. I think I would wheel it if it was trail rated and in the $30k-$40K range. I would love to see what a 4x4 specialty shop could do with it!

I could see this one entering the Dakar!! and would love to be the driver in that race!

Go to http://jeepnewsnow.com to see a video of the Trailhawk. Looks much better than previous autoshow pix of the vehicle.

Has anyone heard when and where the 08 Lib will be introduced? If not Detroit then maybe New York or Chicago?
We already know what it looks like but want to see it in person.

Basically, you're looking at a Porsche Cayenne...especially if it is upscale. Does anybody see new $40,000 GC SRD's out on the trails? Probably not. Any Cayenne's? I doubt it. They are capable, but who is going to use it for that application?

I guess I can see it if this vehicle takes the place of the Grand Cherokee...but it is useless to sell both.

It is trailrated...or least has the badge.

Well, I went this past saturday. Got a few photos I thought I'd share, plus a few observations:

1) The Limited interior is a noticable step up from the Sport. The silver plastic look in the gauges and center dash really dress up the interior, as does the two tone leather. The base models look and feel cheap. The limited at least looks decent, though it can still feel kinda cheap in many places.

2) Headroom is HUGE. Couldn't believe how much space I had at 6 feet. No sunroofs but even with one I can't imagine coming close.

3) Seats are super comfy up front. Really really nicely done.

4) tons of toe room under the front seats if you are a rear seat passenger. Also like the adjustable recline in back. Wish they would have added a center armrest back there though.

That's about it without driving it. My GF and I really liked it. Can't wait to take it for a spin. Other favs were the Mazda CX-7, the Ford Edge, and the new 2008 Saturn Vue. The Jeep seems to offer the most features for the price, though I'm sure it doesn't have the feel, power, or luxury of those other ones.

Hope I can make these pictures show up.....

Agreed. Another urban assault vehicle that will probably never even see a dirt road let alone go off road. But, I suppose DC needs its automatic-everything Lexus now that its got its back-to-basics Patriot.

Jerome,
