i really want the tailgate drop down speakers but i dont need to upgrade acoustics stuff...sound quality is not really an issue for me, just the speakers with the cool pop down feature.....can i have just the speakers installed?

They come only with the Boston Acoustics system. The stock system doesn't have the amplifier power to drive more than the basic four speakers. If you could add it, you would need to disconnect the speakers in the rear doors or install a separate amp (included in the BA package) for them.

the Premium sound group has Boston Acoustics components (speakers) - far as I know. I'd like more info about it - like maybe more info about the sub-woofer and how many amps there are and stuff.

They are one and the same. Listed as "9 speaker Premium Sound Group with Boston Acoustics speakers and Sub woofer with 458 watt Amp, swing down speakers, etc.

If you do a search for "kicker", Mopar has additional optional speakers that have been approved for use. Like Akula says, you'll need an amp of some kind and a salvage yard may be your best bet for the drop down speakers. Oh, if you don't find listings for Patriot, try looking under Caliber and Compass. Same pieces but some sites haven't updated their headings.

Just the one. Remove the spare tire cover and the "cardboard" insulator in front of the tire. In this figure #1 is the satellite receiver and #2 is the amp.
