Any idea of when the Patriot will be unveiled to the public?

it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show late last year and at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2006.

When will it be for sale? Jeep is not saying, but I'd expect it to be at dealerships this fall because the cars at the Auto Shows looked to be right off the assembly line.

"Belvidere autoworkers have been making before-market Caliber since mid-December, [Dave] Bock [a United Auto Workers International representative with UAW 1268] said. He also confirmed what has been rumored for awhile: the Belvidere plant will also start making the Jeep Patriot later this year."

This is the most recent news article I have found regarding production of the Patriot for this year. It is very vague about the exact time frame, but it is confirmation that the Patriot will be produced this year.

There are articles about the Patriot from the (Frankfurt?) autoshow (from late last year) that pegged the production start date of the Patriot in September 2006 (about three months after the production start date of the Compass).

This is one of the old articles that was out there that listed the production start date of the Jeep Patriot pegged as September 2006. This article is 7 months old now, though. This article came out prior to Frankfurt -- there might have been some more information with the Frankfurt Auto Show news.

Please note: the MK74 ("code name" for Jeep Patriot) is misspelled late in the article: it is listed as MK47.

Sorry to post a third message today, but...

This is a two-month-old article from the Detroit Free Press that says the Jeep Patriot will go on sale in October 2006.

So, when will DC make the big public debut of it, any thoughts?

This article -- linked to above previously -- has the JP debut pegged for the NY Auto Show. The NY Auto Show is in April, though (open to the public 4/15-4/23).

"A four-door Wrangler and another small SUV called the Patriot are to debut at the New York auto show in May."

"But now, with the switch to the Dodge Caliber for 2006 and the addition of the Jeep Compass off the same platform due next quarter, and finally, the Jeep Patriot off the same platform this year, Belvidere's goal is to build 300,000 units annually on three shifts _ full capacity and full employment, perhaps the best benefit a worker could ask for.

The fact Caliber, a crossover, is offered with front- or all-wheel-drive, the DNA of Jeep, allows Chrysler Group to add the two other vehicles to Belvidere.

The beneficiaries, other than consumers who soon will have a choice of three new models, are the workers who bolt Caliber, Compass and eventually Patriot together...

Oficials won't say when Patriot will be added because they still don't admit it will be produced. They say only that a third vehicle is destined for Belvidere."

'Males are expected to be more attracted to the Patriot, built on the same platform [as the Compass] but to “Trail Ready” specifications, when it arrives at the New York Show. They tested both at consumer “clinics” and the Compass, one insider assured us, is the “girl car” while the Patriot is the “boy car.” And that’s why they decided to do both—because the split was so distinct.'

Swamp Fox: Thanks for posting the article. They do sound confused. Call it what you want, but just build the darn thing and let the market choose. I for one would not buy a Compass, but would seriously consider the Patriot. Also,to all of those who are confused about the Caliber. It is not an SUV. It competes with the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe. It's a semi-station wagon, hatch back, cross-over type thing. It also looks cheap inside.

"Similarly, Jeep will march out new production models to expand its line. It will unveil the production version of the 2007 Jeep Patriot [at the New York International Auto Show], shown previously as a concept, and the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, a four-door version of the rugged vehicle."

"The Compass, whose rounded edges are aimed at female buyers, will go on sale in the third quarter and the Patriot, with boxy styling aimed at young men, will follow in the fourth quarter.

The Compass will be priced from $15,985 to $21,740 and the Patriot will probably cost slightly less, Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Chrysler said today."

Compass is introduced as 2007 jeep production in the website of jeep.com, but Patriot is not listed. why?

Dawnwoo,

The Patriot hasn't "officially" been announced as going into production. The Compass was already announced earlier this year at another auto show, so it's up on the Jeep website and slated to be sold starting this summer.

The Patriot is expected to be announced at the upcoming NY Auto Show next week. So I doubt Jeep will officially put anything up on it until then. Rumors say that the Patriot won't be produced until this fall or winter.
