have you seen the one s on Ebay?..can t say anything about quality or
ease of install..you have to buy the install kit seperately..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRILLE-GUARD-jeep-PATRIOT-07-09-08-2008-part-auto-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2305d9b1afQQitemZ15 0422008239QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcce ssories

"mounting kit sold seperately"

yup, that'll be the challenge.

you can't say the quality unless you've tried or here some good reviews about it.

I'm still looking for an effective brush guard.

I'm still looking for an effective brush guard.

if you're talking about actually driving through brushes, I've been there - a metal bar on the front is NOT a brush guard. The branches scratch up the clearcoat on the side doors on the jeep, nowhere near the front end.

An effective brush guard would be plastic sticky sheets that go over the paint job. Too bad that would look worse than my clearcoat scratches.

Well, I'd be happy with the ones they have for other vehicles, that cover the front and wrap part way around the fenders. Gives some protection anyway.

I am planning making my own bull bar. I am currently working out designs in my head and will be transferring them to paper.

I as well will be installing a winch on the front, which will cause the bull bar to be a bit further away from the nose of the Pat. The winch will sit behind the bull bar with the roller fairlead mounting on the front plate of the bull bar. Lights mounted on top and possible lights mounted beside the roller fairlead.

With the design I plan to use I shouldn't loose my front tow hooks. I will let you all know how it works out when I draw it out and get pricing on the metal.

I'd be really interested in what you come up with WV Patriot. Although, I would like one that is light and strong, like maybe aircraft grade aluminum.

Also, I hope some of you folks from West Virginia can make our summer meet in PA.

And, The Mountaineers are still going strong in the March Madness.

Yea, I am looking at using both steel and aluminum. A secret, there is no difference in the aluminum; the aircraft grade is a selling point. (I am an AMT, aircraft maintenance technician)

I will think about the PA meet. Yes, the Mountaineers are doing great. I like to see them make the big dance and play Northern Iowa. haha :D

Still planning to build my own. Just need to talk to a welder about what I plan to do, a.k.a. my bro-in-law. Then get final measurements and buy metal.

Hey All

The thing i want to point out on these BullBar additions is , that makes the groundclearance and entry/exit angle less more difficult.

Some other ideas for Custom ones :

Hi, This weekend I installed this bull bar ttp://www.carid.com/2011-jeep-patriot-grill-guards/a-bar-60003.html on my 2011 manual.

The process took me 2 hours and 3 cuts (3"x1/4") in the plastic plate to fit the brackets. I had to remove the plastic plate to put the bar on but it was fairly easy. I'll post pic later.

Hey cortxdp, looking good! Was that difficult to install? Any drilling required? Does it block the area where fog lights would be?

I just purchased a black 2011 Sport and am trying to find and decide which bull bar or bush guard to buy, but it seems to me all of them land right in the way of the factory fog llights they moved more in the center of the bumper. For non-2011 owners out there, you may not have noticed this, but the factory fog lights are now 28 inches apart (measured from the center of th 4 inch bulbs).
So did this obstruct the fog lights or not? I was actually looking for a full brush guard, or the Black horse with skid plate in black. (at cardid, but can't post the url since I'm a newbie according to this site.)

I called them but they could not tell me the dimensions, and the picture isn't of a Pat.

thanks,

Looks like it would block your fog lights. Even though this Pat doesn't have them but you can clearly see where they would have been.

The bar stands partially in the way of the fog lights for the 2011.
For the installation, the cuts aside, it was straightfoward. I had to remove the plastic.

Here's an photo of one of the cut I made.

what plastic exactly did you have to remove?

The big cover that serve as the motor cover and "skid plate". I had to remove it for the installation, cut the three pieces to make space for the bar brackets, install the bar and put it back.

very nice. Although it getting in the way of the fog lights has turned me off completely.
