Has anyone taken a trip up to St. Elmo? If you have, when does the trail open and how would you rate it?

I was just wondering the same thing. I just got back from my Birthday trip to Mount Princeton Hot Springs and St. Elmo is right up the road. It was snowing Friday night :) and there were quite a few cars in ditches and having problems getting up the hill. The pat did fine, we were staying in a room up on the top of the hill from the springs. We didn't attempt to go to St. Elmo as it was night and snowy. If you do go there I'd love to hear about it. Oh... and be sure to stop in at Mt. Princeton on the way back it is rather nice (especially the springs down near the river).

We're planning a trip to the Gunnison area in April, 08. We will be taking some of the milder trails and "scouting" some of the higher ones for another trip later in the summer, or in 2009--depending on how my vacation schedule works out this year.

Well, the vacation schedule has been finalized for our April trip to Colorado. We look forward to taking the wife's WJ on a few of the mountain trails.

BTW, my XJ has surpassed the 265,000 mile mark. I'm hoping for at least 300,000 miles out of Ol' Faithful.
